What happens if you have to drive fast, on a highway for example (maybe your wife is pregnant and you are rushing her to the hospital) but you have M/T tires on your truck, will they explode if you get your truck up over a certain speed? Will they become unstable if you get them up over a certain speed? Just curious...

    Thanks for the input

Check your tire's speed rating. Remember that is the max your tire can safely travel under the very best conditions. It doesn't factor in your truck, modifications, road conditions, etc. Be safe.

    L 75 mph 120 km/h
    M 81 mph 130 km/h
    N 87 mph 140 km/h
    P 93 mph 150 km/h
    Q 99 mph 160 km/h
    R 106 mph 170 km/h
    S 112 mph 180 km/h
    T 118 mph 190 km/h
    U 124 mph 200 km/h
    H 130 mph 210 km/h
    V 149 mph 240 km/h
    W 168 mph 270 km/h
    Y 186 mph 300 km/h

I'm being serious. M/T tires are specifically designed for off road performance but how do they react when you have to push them in a real life emergency scenario on the roads? I know that most, if not all A/T tires can at least be somewhat competent at high speeds on pathed/apshalt or cement roads, I'm just wondering about M/T tires, that is, how will they react when pushed on a highway, will they be too dangerous to handle, will they literally fall apart?

Ok, I guessing that most M/T tires are going to be L rated

Yep, that's kind of what I imagine will happen if you try and do 120mph with your M/T tires

I don’t think u can even get to 120 on the tundra. They have a cut off unless u removed it with a tuner or tune.

Fair enough but I'm living in truck central USA and I'm sure that many of you all see more trucks and SUVs on the highways than sedans/coups/wagons and many, many of these trucks and SUVs are wearing M/T tires and I know that I've seen some real speed demons driving trucks or Jeeps or whatever going over 80 mph.

And I'm considering putting some M/Ts on my truck as I have a farm that gets muddy and I don't want to get stuck and having an M/T tire would really help. That said, I'm not going to buy tires that might explode on me if I have to push the truck in some kind of emergency. It's a legitimate question.

Do the real expensive M/T tires have a higher speed rating, I'm guessing that yes, they do and that is probably one of the reasons they are more expensive

The guys here already informed you that your tire's have a speed rating(Check It!). Keep in mind the speed and weight ratings for the tire are at maximum pressure rated for the tire. If you exceed the speed and/or weight rating you do so at your own risk, and yes tires do blow and or tear themselves apart under these circumstances. Other than that they are going to HOOOOOOWWWWWWLLLL lika a motherfu@#$%r rolling down the road.
