Last night the low tire pressure light started blinking in the dash. So just putting new tires on I figured one may be low. After checking all the pressures with a gauge they are good. Bad sensor all of a sudden? Or is one just hanging out with the wrong crowd?

Have you tried resetting the tpms?

Probably just needs resetting. There should be a little button at the bottom of your dash, below the steering wheel, push it and see if that works for you. If not, take it back to where you got the tires and tell them to reprogram it or take it to your local dealership and they can do it.

Did they rebuild the tpms sensor. Depending on your type of wheel, they may have reinstalled it backwards and caused it not to read properly. I had at least 5 trips to Discount Tire for them to figure it out. Especially if you have steel wheels.

Tried the reset button.... won't stop blinking . Just new tires not rim's. I will check the spare. Didn't know that one has a sensor, but that makes sense.

You may or may not have a spare tire sensor. But when you drop the tire, clean and use a good spray oil on the tire lifting cable and hardware. Salt, water, dirt etc will cause it to rust and jam. If it wasn’t for bad luck we wouldn’t have any luck. It’ll just save you a ton of aggravation changing a flat tire in the pouring down rain or in the snow trying to unjam your spare tire mechanism. At the Toyota dealership I work at we had quite a few people that weren’t able to change their tire because the mechanism was rusted and wouldn’t work..

Since you just got new tires, I'm going to bet it's not your spare tire. The tpms needs recalibrated. My local wheel and tire shop has a hand held programmer that plugs into the ob2 port, and it recalibrates the system.

To reset, with the ignition on, make sure you push and hold the button until the TPMS light blinks three times.

Just got new rubber, installer only put PSI that was on the door which doesn't corresponed with the factory tires. Add air to at least 3/4 of the psi on your tires

If you have bigger tires than listed on your door put more air in according to the tires max PSI. My SR5 seems to know the difference between the factory tires and the factory upgrades

I agree. Doesn't the blinking mean it needs to be recalibrated? If it was a pressure issue, it would be a solid light, not blinking.

Doesn't Techstream test the TPMS ? I never looked that close.

TechStream software will tell you everything you need to know. It'll tell you the lowest allowable pressure, the current pressure, and it'll tell you the temp of the sensor. When I had one go bad the light would flash and then go solid each time you started up the truck. I would try adding an extra 5 psi to the tires and see if it goes away. The push button is just for resetting the lowest allowable pressure. I wouldn't change it unless the new tires you put on require less pressure.

I'm going to lean towards the spare. Put e rated tires on so higher presser than the spare. I'll bump up the psi in that and see if it gets the light to go out.

A blinking light either means one or more of your sensors is dead or the pressure is way past the allowable range.
The TPMS button on the dash is only to be used to reset the baseline PSI pressure.

What pressure did you set these new tires to?

50 psi. Then looking at them I dropped the rears to 45 and the fronts to 48

Okay so one of the sensors could have failed or the tire pressure is too high according to the truck.

To reset the baseline pressure the need to all be set to the same cold tire pressure. Say 45 all around.
Then while the truck is running hold the tire pressure button for a few seconds until it blinks. After that the truck must remain on for I believe 15 mins. I recommend just driving it instead of letting it sit there and idle.

If that doesn’t work then I would bank on a dead sensor.

Is there a fix if tpms light comes on after disconnecting and reconnecting tpms reset button? I installed 2019 trd pro headlights and had disconnected reset button and removed bottom dash to connect wire under dash. Now tpms light stays on. Tried disconnecting battery and reconnecting. Also tried resetting tpms and no luck
