Anyone here get popped yet for new loud exhaust law in California? Such BS imo but hey it’s California sooo.. what’s going to happen to all the loud Hogs rolling V -twin straits? Or muscle cars? Or??? I’ve got a BAmuff 8” on my truck and don’t drive it every day. Hear it’s a $1000 fine now. Going to lose it if I get a ticket for this crap. Thoughts?

I assume it will be just like always. Obey traffic laws and don't floor it everywhere and they most likely leave you alone.

But they can use it to be a dick if they need to. Obviously there will be some Harley hating cops that will love to use it everyday.

I view it as another window tint, mud flap, etc traffic law. designed to give probably cause for people acting like idiots who most likely deserve to be pulled over...
I highly doubt any cops will actively go out of their way to fine people for loud exhausts or riding Harley’s if they are obeying the law.
I live and ride in San Diego and have relatively loud exhausts on my bikes. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve split lanes in front of or directly behind a motorcycle cop. No issues whatsoever.

It’s always been around but now it’s a straight up fine instead of a fix it ticket. Be careful where you floor it.

Yeah I know, I still think it will be the same. I noted not to floor it.

Yep, that will be the plan one day. Unfortunately my career and family is here. Retirement, or winning the Loto, and I'm outta here.

I've had a cop tell me "you know your exhaust is a bit loud but I like it". He also didnt ticket me for window tint, but he got me for speeding. Can't win em all.

I dont think anything will change, if your exhaust is loud enough to make a cop pursue you then you're asking for it.

Continue with the "leave California" remarks, please do so I'll have less traffic to deal with.

Yeah, but it's all up to the cop at the end. I'll never forget one time in my buddy's '66 El Camino with headers and the smallest mufflers ever, dumped at the front fender.

A cop rolled up next to us looking over, at first I was worried and the cop made a hand gesture like "floor it". My buddy gave a few hard revs and got a thumbs up and a smile, then the light turned green and the cop said floor it again. We could still see his smile as we sped away.

I had no idea they passed this law. Who tf voted for this? Probably the same asswipes that voted for Garbage Newsom. Anyway, I just put an exhaust system on and it's quiet at idle. It sounds awesome when I wind it out! I doubt the cops around here would do anything tho. They don't do anything really. Everyone in Whittier calls them the WorthlessPD!

Crazy law. Years ago in San Fernando Valley, Balboa and Reseda Blvds were the place to go cruzin. Late 60s and early 70s it was mostly American Muscle cars of course. The local LEOs were quite lenient
as long as you weren't endangering people and trying to drag race. Population grew of course and that changed things. Recently before I moved here I'd go every year to Woodley Park in Van Nuys to attend "March Madness". Mostly American Muscle cars and a few vintage. Most of these cars were driven to the event. The LEO's were quite lenient for a day. Even the occasional burnout was tolerated. By the time I moved in 2004 most of the tuned cars in the Valley were freakin rice rockets with shitty sounding exhaust. That new law just might hard to enforce. Not enough LEO's....too many rice rockets

What about "but my truck FEELZ like it's a loud truck!"
    "Stop micro-aggressing my truck!"
    Safe spaces for exhaust?
    It's a "support exhaust" argument?
    Sanctuary for my exhaust!

Dang my old backyard. They have "Super Sunday" shows at the old Topanga mall, the closed one way down by the 101. Cops will patrol a bit there but same thing, drive tame and no problems.

And yes, call it discrimination until it's legal :D

I drive around with tinted windows and all my lights uncovered and loud exhaust. I live two blocks from the pacifica PD and they see me and hear me all the time and sit next to me at the light since there’s only one way in and out of my neighborhood which happens to be the same way the cops go in and out of their building. They don’t really fuck with you until you look like you’re doing something wrong by driving in and out of lanes going nowhere fast like a jackass. Cutting people off to race to the next light or not having a front license plate. Mind you I look like a terrorist with my beard and general lack of grooming and skin color. No issues. Just like having major subs in your vehicle. See a cop, lower the volume. Or let go of the gas and Cruze and you’re fine. Now I’m not sure how that will work with Harley’s that are just loud in general even at cruzing or idle. Nothing seems to be louder than them. Personally I don’t think the cops will do anything with this new law. They have better shit to do with their time.

Congrat's on retirement! I'll be there one day. Im born and raised Long Beach. Never left, thought I'd never leave. Just no place for middle class here. You gotta be living off the system, or too rich to care about the taxes and prices of things here. And the voting reflects that. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a guy that just complains and blames everything on CA on why I can't get ahead. I bought my house here at 25 years old (I'm 31). I live the life I want to live but not outside my means. But I think my dollar will go a lot farther elsewhere. I love CA, and I dont really know where I'll go but my outdoor lifestyle I'm sure would be fun somewhere else too. As beautiful as CA is, I'm just about done with the politics here. I have a good job, so i doubt ill leave soon. Maybe when I retire in 30 years it will be different and I'll stay.
