I lost one of my key fobs for a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro. What is the cheapest way to replace this? Dealer wants $220 for the fob and $220 to program it. From what I read online, it has to be programmed by a dealer. Is that true?

No, a locksmith with the proper software should be able to do the programming.

Our mechanic got us one for my wife’s Highlander. Still a couple hundred.

He is a Toyota mechanic so not sure if any mechanic can do it.

I looked at Tom's when I wanted an additional push button start fob. In the end I bought a fob from https://northcoastkeyless.com/ and had my local dealer reprogram and cut it, for which they charged $75. I saved a few bucks and the hassle of returning the programmer. But my local small town dealership is very convenient and fair in their pricing. YMMV
