I'm curious if everyone here applied sound deadening material before your install? Thanks.

I realize it's recommended, but is it really necessary?

Definitely not necessary, but my thought was that if I’m dropping a grand to improve the sound system, I might as well do the sound deadening too.

I upgraded mine and kept the head unit, nothing wrong with it in my opinion and it meets my needs.

Amp - Kenwood Excelon X801-5 from Crutchfield

Sub - Rockford Fosgate R2S-1X12 from local sale

LOC - AudioControl LC7i - New from Ebay

Tech12volts - dash speakers setup - JL Audio c1 tweeters corners and center.

Doors are still stock but will be ordering from James, JL Audio c1-650 for front and rear soon as factory speakers blow.

nothing is necessary.....sound deadening makes a difference though in both music quality and cabin sound level
