    Hey folks,

I’ve been making dash mounts for the LX and Land Cruiser crowd for a while now (I’m a Land Cruiser owner myself), and recently put together a new one for the 2014–2021 Toyota Tundra. While I don’t own a Tundra, I really appreciate this community’s help in validating and refining the product.

I’m looking for two beta testers to give it a try. I’ll mail the test mount (free) along with the hardware—all I ask in return is some feedback, photos, and honest thoughts.

Important: This mount only works if your Tundra has the center speaker trim (part #55525-0C010-C0), so please double-check your truck before signing up.

    A few quick details:
    • You’ll need to drill into the speaker cover (part #55525-0C010-C0) to mount it
    • Uses locking nuts for a solid, no-wiggle fit
    • Clean, low-profile look that blends right into the dash
    • 3D printed from heat- and UV-resistant composite plastic (rated up to 212°F / 100°C)
    • Compatible with common T-track mounting balls such as the RAM 1” ball

If you’re up for testing one, drop a comment or shoot me a DM. I’ll pick two folks soon. Cheers!

P.S. To admin: my goal here isn’t to sell anything directly on the forum, but simply to find a couple of trustworthy beta testers to help refine the design. I genuinely appreciate this community’s input and want to make sure posts like this are okay. Thanks for understanding!

Putting a PS in a post doesn't do much and won't save you if you are breaking rules. Not saying you are. That's above my pay grade.

If you want to check to be sure you are in line with rules, go to the chat with staff section. It's a convo with just you and the mods.

Is the plastic BPA free? Is it ethically sourced?

Is it known to the state of california to cause the heebie-jeebies?

All the BPA's possible from the finest child labor camps spread across the 3rd world. So the heebie-jeebies go without saying.

I'd be happy to test one. I have a Victory plate I haven't installed yet. I had one installed on my last Tundra and it bounced the child monitor and ham mount quite a bit on concrete highways so I've been holding off until 100% necessary. I like this option better and have a similar one in my wife's GX.

The distance from that dash center speaker to the driver or passenger is pretty far.
You'd need a really long arm if you're planning to install something like a phone mount to it. I have the Rago dash plate and use a RAM 6" arm for my phone mount and it still has a bit of shake when hitting the mall parking lot speed bumps.
I'd imagine the arm for that would need to be twice as long which would have more wobble n shake.
Could be used for something like a scanner though.
Curious to see what any testers come up with.

This is for an add-on dash mounting system. This version was designed to fasten to the front center speaker cover. It will allow users to mount a tablet, phone, scanner, etc... in a heads-up configuration they can reach and manipulate.

    Got my mount today!

    First impressions:

Very nicely printed, material color closely matches Toyotas black plastic. I like the textured top compared to the smooth finish on the sides, gives it nice dimension.

The kit came with high quality, gloss black hardware consisting of T-25 torx bolts, washers, and nylon locking nuts. I did find that the bolts are not long enough to accommodate the washer AND engage the nylon with the nuts. Upon removing the washers the bolt fully engages the nylon. There is no distortion or digging into the speaker cover, thus the washers simply aren’t needed.

    The install:

A wide trim tool was used to pop the speaker cover off the dash. The light sensor is simply clicked into the cover, disconnect the electrical connector and squeeze the sides to pop it out of the speaker cover.

I used painters tape to secure the mount to the speaker cover while I double checked alignment prior to drilling. The mount has a nice taper on the bottom which aids in spacing front to back, side to side measurements are the same as the speaker cover so it’s flush on the sides.

There are 12 holes to be drilled with a 3/16th drill bit. The plastic is soft so it’s very easy to drill with hardly any pressure. There are 4 areas under the cover that require a very minimal amount of trimming to the ribbing on the bottom of the speaker cover. This will in no way compromise the integrity of the cover so I wasn’t concerned. I used a small pair of flush cuts and razor blade to have clearance for the nuts.

once all 12 holes drilled and hardware tightened there is no uneven gaps or odd spacing on top of the speaker cover. Approximately 40% of the speaker is “blocked” I highly doubt this is would affect audio output.

Returning to the truck the cover was reinstalled and I was very happy with the appearance and fitment. Now I’m 6’4 with long arms (I wear a 36/37 sleeve length) I drive with my seat all the way down and back with desert does it seat jackers. With my back against the seat the base plate is about 10 inches out of reach. That being said, anything you plan on mounting will require a stretch, YMMV.

The clearance to the windshield may be a limiting factor. Clearance is as little as 3.5 inches towards the back up to 5.5 inches in the front. Obviously you can use extension arms to get the device closer to the driver or passenger, but I figured it was worth mentioning if you were looking to limit wobble from extensions.
The hula girl is just about 4.25 inches so you can get an idea of what fits there. I’ll be sourcing some mounts and accessories to try out GoPro mounts, cell phone mounts, and iPad mounts.

@Toe404 I really appreciate your detailed review, the dash mount looks great on your dashboard and definitely has that OEM vibe, which is exactly the design direction I’m aiming for.

It sounds like you won’t be able to use all the washers, which is what I suspected. The Tundra’s speaker cover is thinner than something like a Land Cruiser’s, so the screws need to sit slightly higher to prevent them from protruding too much and contacting the dashboard.

Thanks again for your review! Please let me know if you have any additional feedback after using it for a bit longer.

I couldn’t find a mount I liked for my Tundra or Sequoia. I didn’t want anything in the middle of the dash and I didn’t want it low. Hated the stupid suction cup versions, so I made this adapter for a Ram mount. I machined a threaded insert that fits snugly inside the handle mount and mounted the Ram mount to it. It’s rock solid. This one is on my 25 year old Sequoia and I’m machining a different one for my 2017 TRD pro. IMG_4283.jpg

It secures to the speaker, but only relies on the clips holding the speaker in? What are you expecting people to mount to it? That definitely isn't going to hold anything like a tablet arm mount, and I'd be willing to bet the whole thing would pop right out if you hit a big bump while it's supporting something.

Maybe I'm missing something. It would probably be a better with a metal reinforcement plate underneath that extends underneath the dashboard itself, to hold the whole assembly down.
