You got two rigs. Ok i follow. DD seems to be setting the bar pretty high in the exhaust category

im on here for my 5.7L 2nd gen sequoia

After considering cat back options and price, along with wanting a non common tone, LTHs and a full setup seems reasonable, if theres solid gains to be had over a off shelf Catback

According to Doug Thorley, these numbers are possible (expected?):

What i dont like about these main stream companies/ hence my favoritism towards DirtyD, thorley claims a must have for NA and Super Charged, yet from what im gathering SC sees no benefits

So why the SC claim Mr Thorley?

30 seems like a reasonable claim with LTH+ Unrestricted catback. I gained ~10HP when I added LTH to my Supercharger and a restrictive stock catback; I've since replaced the exhaust.

When naturally aspirated the gains with headers are huge. We have a direct bolt on header, mid pipe, catback combo specific for a sequoia. Actual engineering, not just throwing parts together. 760-877-4234.

It’s easy to sandbag the ‘before’ then take the highest numbers ‘after’.

that’s the problem with Dyno testing. It’s very subjective. Without an e/t at the track or being there at the Dyno sessions, I’m always Leary when I see claims with just Dyno numbers.

Naturally aspirated, with dual 2.5” exhaust, Thorleys were good for 41hp. 89tq. And .5 seconds in the 1/8 mile.
    Supercharged

    Supercharged, nothing.

I am supercharged and 3” Long Tubes, generally would say stick to just supercharging and a cat back unless you are doing a full build. The long tubes can be a headache electronically and the gain vs dollar is much lower than supercharging. If you are considering long tubes I would first determine why not supercharge?

The combo is very fun though and fast.

I speak to 10-20 people on the daily. And a lot of them are debating this exact thing.

long tubes with a proper exhaust is about half the price of supercharging. But supercharging is more gain.

the part I like better about long tubes, the truck drives exactly the same as it did before the long tubes. No weird shifting. No weird burps or hiccups. Stock reliability. Stock feel. Only more power!!

Probably akin to companies that claim gains from so called cold air intakes that are just hot air intakes.

Whatever this forum told me to do
With the 5.7 Tundra...no matter what the performance question is, Supercharging is always the best answer.

Im with Deeds on this. The most form and function comes from LTHs. No worm can opening unlike SC’in

literally bolt on LTHs as if they were stock. The job itself is identical to installing factory manifolds/headers. Along with the factory cats and tail section

no special parts to order or explain, current and future.

something that speaks to me, with my particular rig, i want no change in reliability or parts ordering. I still want the factory feel with just a rabbit in the hat
Im rolling factory ride height, factory spec rubber, dropped to an 18 wheel, but thats subtle enough to just make you ponder what is diff.

Just low ballin, even at 40hp thats incredible. Factor in that a decent cat back runs 1k+, whats a other 1,500$?

At least that what brought me here. Sourcing a decent cat back and cost, might as well go in once and call it

Factory feel with a rabbit on the hat is the Magnuson TRD supercharger.

LTH is basically 1/4 the price of the SC for 1/4 of the gains. Arguably install labor is at least half of the SC, everyone says it’s a knucklebuster. If you will always be happy with that 1/4 of the gains, or just need that LTH sound then they seem like a good route. If you’re still going to want a blower one day, just save the money and do the blower and skip the LTH IMO.

    This.
I love my JBA LTs, but still want more. I'm just glad I bought before covid wrecked everything and doubled the price.
I always wanted a v8 and I always wanted headers for it. So when I finally bought my fourth and sixth trucks, they came with v8s in em and they got headers. Now the question for the 03 is do I supercharge, and if so roots or centrifugal... or remote turbo? I want to R150E swap my A340 too.

I vote any positive displacement blower! I’m biased though.

I guess to help out the thread, here is my full 3” exhaust with Long Tubes, dumped after muffler before axle:

Any sound clips of long tubes with a more conservative approach with the muffler choice?
Im trying to hear how LT’s will sound with a more subtle style / factory style muffler

Loud AF is the answer. Muffler style and distance from the engine make a big difference.

I doubt it but I'll see if I have my old sound clips.

    Hmmm. Loud AF.
hmmm Loud AF. The second video driving doesnt sound to loud
    Any start up clips??

See personally i kinda like the trd exhaust tone that came on the 5.7 trd pro sequoia as an option.

Not sure if the tundra was the same. I believe the tundra came two outs and the sequoia was a single rear section

Id like to see if anyone accomplished a more “factory style” tone vs the overly aggressive

Perfect world for me, just want the hp gains with a more tame not so deep and throaty
Almost like an AMG or the escalade. Wanting that luxary note, not offroad chambered

It's really not loud at all with the TRD catback. Even with the LTs and the resonator delete.

I'll try to remember to get a start up video when I leave for work in a few. This is the 4.7L btw.
