explain to me the benifits of a long travel kit vs a suspension lift. Which one would you go with, and why and looking for cheap reasonable options.

    5100’s= cheap
Long travel= downpayment on a house or a fun sports car.

Suspension lift does what it sounds like. It lifts your truck into the air. Typically using a drop bracket to lower the LCAs and thus, lowering the knuckle. The rear is typically equipped with lift blocks or lift shackles to get height. Little to no off road performance increase with marginal advantages in very specific situations.

Long travel actually moves the knuckles outwards and lengthens the upper and lower arms, thus increasing travel. Rears get longer leaf springs. Amazing off road performance increase with marginal disadvantages in very specific situations.

LT, especially for 1st gen, isn't crazy expensive. Even then, basic LT builds are expensive, but not unattainable.

TC long travel. Deaver 420 SU leaf packs.
You can actually spend less for '99 Porsche 911 than what LT costs.

Chris already nailed it. Cheap and long travel are like oil and water.

No argument here. Even if you track the Porsche, you're still just going in circles.
