Looking forward to some good brotherhood in this group. I was worried leaving Tacomaworld.com because it's such an active group and has so much info for a non mechanic type like me. I was so happy when a member there posted a link to this group and I saw that it's set up like Tacoma world and has a ton of participation and info.
I've had Toyota's for for over thirty years and bought a 1995 SR5 T-100 for my first truck and kept it till till I traded in 2011 for a TRD sport Tacoma. The Taco was a great truck and filled my needs pulling my small trailer and would easily pull a planned pontoon we have for future plans, BUT.....
We started to look at travel trailers and looked for something the Taco would pull instead of what we really wanted and after some discussion we decided it was time for the Taco to go.
A Tundra was the only large truck I considered and after stopping in to just look at Tundra's I ended up leaving a few hours later with a new Magnetic Grey SR5 Double Cab FFV. I am completely happy and I'm looking forward to good times in the new truck.

Awesome. My first car was an 87 Toyota pick up. Looked like the back to the future truck. Loved it. I sold it but it is still running with over 500k.

Hi, I don't have either truck, but I've been searching for a while for the perfect one. I've been looking at Tundras, but I just found a truck I love...a 1998 T-100 6cyl 4WD. The problem is that it is the exact same engine as the Tacoma my son used to own, which he said was gutless. I want to pull a small vintage trailer, maybe 2,200 to 2,400 empty. But I live in Salt Lake City, and everywhere I would want to go is pretty much straight uphill. My son is telling me I need an 8 cyl, but this T-100 is awesome. It is an standard transmission. I guess I'm hoping there is some magic about the T-100 that would give it more pulling ability? The guy who owns it says he pulls 3,000 to 3,500 regularly up pretty steep hills in Idaho. Is there any reason the same engine in a T-100 would be better than in a Tacoma? Thanks for your help!
