This was two days of work. The most expensive item was two sheets of 3/4" plywood at $46 each. I only used 65" of each sheet, so it was around $70 in plywood, $40 for 2 pieces of 1 in. x 36 in. Zinc-Plated Punched Square Tube, which I cut in half to make C channel. Plus some paint and a variety of screws. Oh, and some roof flashing.
    Finished:

The key to it all, the post is anchor-able with no drilling into truck.

    2 x 2 anchored to post:

    C channel mounted to 2 x 2:

roof flashing mounted to first panel which measured 65 x 48:

    Roof flashing:

    Two panels in, a 48 and a 24":

The drop lip, which is on two outer panels making it lockable...since with the gate locked, you can't slide panels out of truck:

The holes in the truck are NOT in a straight line! They curve...which meant I had to re-drill the last post to straighten the 2 x 2. Had I bought better, deeper C channel this would not have been a problem. The curved 2 x 2:

It will support me standing, but it does bend in the middle. I weigh 164:

I appreciate this. Someone who can build it to their needs and doesn't buy everything pre-made. Sweet job

After a year of use, how is this holding up?
