For sure. Don't think rely on it, but it's very interesting to see what it gets right and what it gets wrong. I'd never do anything just based on it.

The stickies here are probably the best I have ever seen. I have owned many different vehicles and read a lot of different model/brand forums before.

Appreciate the sentiment. A lot of folks on here out a shitload of effort into those stickies, and choosing which ones stay stuck. You won’t see their names on it, and I’m not going to sit here and name names because I’ll forget someone and I don’t want to do anyone wrong, but … you have a lot of older knowledge on here, lots of people who’ve been on other enthusiast forums and wanted to build on here exactly the kind of info they wish they’d have had available in other places.

Good forum here. Good because it’s full of good humans who want to help and collab on common interests.

Anyone have thoughts on antenna replacement? Can it just screw to the post or is it more involved? Any recommendations for replacement? Mine dried out and broke, was looking to do better than auto store. Hit me with what’s been working for you. I’ll probably tighten the mounting to fender up too. Searching led me around to nothing helpful. Thanks y’all

My 2nd Toyota truck & 1st Tundra, a 2002 Ivan Stewart SE TRD 4x4. I am the second owner, 120k miles with custom camper, fitted BedRug, etc. Very well maintained & got a great deal on it.

That's awesome, it's unusual to see one of the Ivan Stewart trucks with the decals, wheels, Silver Molly designs grille and front bumper cover intact. Note the fender flares are custom to go with the rest of the package, and are totally unobtanium at this point, so you often see trucks without them because they've gotten banged up and can't be salvaged or purchased.

Sounds like the unobtanium T3 grills. They tends to break and can't be replaced. I still need to get mine fixed.

I almost didn't even go look at it. The listing description made it sound like a standard tundra & the 1 photo was so bad, i couldn't tell for sure anything really, so I just assumed i was going to be disappointed. I've never been more glad to be wrong! Feel like i found a unicorn, it was dry stored for 6 months at at time while the original owner was deployed. I want to get some bumper protection, any recommendations?

Yeah, it's definitely a Unicorn, and exactly in the low range of mileage I'd like to see. 125k-175k miles is (my opinion) a good mileage range for these trucks. But at this age and that mileage, it should have records of at least one, possibly two timing belt/water pump/pulley changes. If there's no evidence that service has been done, I'd do it ASAP (this is the OEM supplier's kit to use for 10yr/100k mile intervals). You'd never drive around on 24 year old tires, so kinda important to replace that belt if it's also 20+ years old. Toyota lists the service interval as 9yrs/90k miles, but that number is only true for higher-quality OEM parts (Aisin is the OEM supplier on these parts), expect any aftermarket name brand to have half the longevity. And if that belt snaps, low-interference engine here, the engine may be toast.

Bumper protection ... ugh. Just avoid the brush guards. I've only seen evidence they end up being "damage multipliers" for folks who hit deer and other stuff with one of those installed.

If you just want to protect the paint, look up "helicopter tape". I'm seeing 4" wide rolls on Amazon. You can put it on the front bumper to absorb gravel strikes and parking lot scuffs. A little heat helps soften it up when applying it. A hair dryer or heat gun on low while applying it helps avoid air bubbles and gives it a little stretch. If it can hold up to the abuse on my mountain bike frames, it'll hold up on a bumper.

Appreciate the heads up, i’ve definitely been looking to have it checked out, one of the first things i was warned about. Called someone today, if they don’t get back to me, i’ll be taking it into a place i trust asap this next week.

Regarding bumper, that’s why i asked. Seen nothing but horror stories about it being worse with one than without.

How much of lift did you get in front and what brand leafs did you use in the rear, do you remember the leafs you used how is the ride quality I may do the same to my 3.4 v6 2wd automatic access cab and one more question how much do you have to replace things do to it being on the 5th notch

Have you read the "Suspension, wheel and tires ..." over here yet?

You cannot use him as reference. You are V6 and 2WD, you'll get wildly different lift up front than he did with his V8/4WD. While you share the same cab type, the weight distribution and weight amount with his truck is wildly different from yours, and it has different OEM springs. Lack of all that weight up front from the larger engine and 4WD components means you'll be substantially higher, and with our trucks, that's not a good thing. Anything above 2" - 2½" and you're putting pretty substantial added stress on everything.

Bilstein gives a lift measurement inside their documentation for the 5100, I'm pasting it here. It's best you reference that, and you'll see, with 4WD access cab, we can't even use the 4th or 5th notch, they warn you not to do it. It looks like they allow it for 2WD access cab, but at 5th notch, two things are going to be true: (1) The ride will be harsh as fuck. (2) You're at the limits of the suspension travel, and need to upgrade a lot of other stuff to avoid damaging your truck.
