    Hello,

Just got my new Leer 100XL installed and notice a ~1/4" gap all around the side and back where it sits on the truck bed. Is this normal?

Looks pretty normal. Mine was slightly misaligned so I unbolted it and it was easy move around by standing in the bed and pushing the cap up with my back against the top of it.

I think the gap is intentional, so it doesn't rub on the paint.

Why dont they just make it so it sits ON TOP of the actual bedrail and not over hang the side and look like its not even the correct cap for the truck. Looks super crappy being like that

Because over hang is 100% water proof, sitting on top requires more sealing which will eventually fail.

I have the same gap on my Century (re-badged Leer). While ugly, that is normal. It will keep the fiberglass edges from coming into contact with the paint on the bedsides as things flex and bounce.

They could have chamfered that rough edge at the factory to make it look a little nicer but I guess they don't cut corners...

If you can let it go, I bet you stop noticing it quickly.
