Anyone have a recommendation on led tail lights? I tried the search function, but only saw a few threads with people saying they liked a the brand they bought but hadn’t had them long. I see alpharex, recon, hirev, spyder, winjet, etc. What’s the best option? Anyone have a set they’ve had for an extended time they would recommend?

I am considering the VLEDS tail light conversion. The products I've got from them are top notch .

Alpharex if you can afford them, are really something special. Admittedly, I’m thinking about their headlights, but they make a great product.

You get what you pay for. Still better than the 300 sets of cheap taillights that leak or burn out and have poor output.

The fact that $300 is cheap for taillights makes my belly hurt

It is a little ridiculous to pay $300+ for bulbs but sometimes you just gotta say f#ck it

Now I got to compare these to the Mori's ... how long you have 'em installed and any issues ? Do these have those 'fins' like OEM ?

    ^ This..

    Well worth it.
It isn't just bulbs you are paying for.
It is the bulbs, the harness, and the resistors to prevent turn signal hyper flash as well as awesome customer service..
It is also years of Colton's research that make this the best option for Tundra LED tail lights.
Nothing wrong with the stock housing, it looks better than any after-market kits.

ALL the aftermarket taillights look stupid and space-age and most use the halogen reverse bulb..
I researched them for 7 years and settled on Hotshots.
But I didn't settle, they are fu(Kin' awesome.

Every time I stop and turn at night I see in my mirrors the VLEDs lighting up.
When I sit in restaurant drive-thru lines at night I put my truck in park not to blind the cars behind me.
@memario1214 option A kit is the second best mod I've done to my 2014 only second to the OEM headlights with the @iHacker harness.

His communication and being a forum vendor is as good as it gets..
You aren't going to get his customer service with other ugly aftermarket tail light assembly manufacturers.

    You are correct Sir....

I have not experienced any leaks, burn outs, or poor output, and have taken the truck through several high pressure no-touch washes. I figured multiple pressure washers at dif angles to be a pretty good test of water resistance.

Since this is an opinion thread, I think mine look significantly better than the OE tails. How you guys can justify $400+ for a few light bulbs amazes me.

Question is, do you want to change the taillight assembly out or keep OEM? Both good options.

    1. Aftermarket. There are a lot of good aftermarket options out there, depends on the look you're going for. Pick a reputable brand with good reviews and maybe some additional reviews from folks on here with what works and what doesn't.

    2. OEM Assembly. Personally, I replaced the light bulbs (x6) and converted them over to LED, 5000k (true white, not the blueish 6000k). I used the VLED, Vtails V6 Extreme tail light conversion kit. I liked the OEM assembly but did not care for the way it was wired up. The top light only activating when braking looked odd to me, especially when I followed other Tundras. I wanted more definition from my rear turn signals and this option fixed all that, red to amber. Both top and bottom lights are always on (low), both activate during breaking comparable to the sun (high), and it uses the same bulb for the turn signal and backup light. Great results and as others have said, you get what you pay for.

No fins like OEM. Have had them about 2yrs. No issues, love them still as much as I did 1st day. Only regret if you could call it that was not waiting for the current gen which has amber turn signals built into it. My gen doesnt have amber color.

IMO Alpharex are hands down the nicest design and modern without looking "ricer" if you know what I mean. I don't think a "non tundra person" would even think they are aftermarket. They come off like a "modern" styled OEM tail light.

    Good luck!

Not gonna lie this is not a great representation of the hot tails but this is after I was done , it's option B only because I wanted the 3000 lumans reverse and I wanted the turn signals to be like oem so top and bottom blink and I will tell you that it is without a doubt night and day !

I should have said this at the beginning, I have the nightshade package. There is nothing wrong with the Oem tails except that the red really doesn’t look great with the rest of the truck blacked out. So no hot tails for me. I like the look of the recon, but they are pricey and you still have to purchase the reverse bulbs on top of that. I think I’ve got it narrowed down to the alpharex and the morimoto.

Same ... really like the full led Mori's, just debating that price, ha ! Heard they collaborated with Me-So and I have both their dome and map lights for about a year now --they are quality ! https://mesocustoms.com/collections/toyota-tundra
