If you have a Tundra with the OEM puddle lamps, you may not even know you have them because they are so dim! I didn't know until I read it on here that my truck had some lol.

After searching for LED's for them, I realized the assemblies are sealed and you can NOT change the bulb! I know some people were successful on cutting the lens open, replacing the bulb, then glueing the cover back on. I don't like cutting stuff, so I ran into this website that sold complete replacement assemblies.

    http://drivebright.com/home/shop/led-puddle-light-pack-bright-trax-v4-extreme-toyota-mazda/

Order came pretty quick. About 2 days via USPS. packaging was pretty good.
They give free license plate LED's but I didn't install them since I already had some.

Directions to replace the stock units :

    1. Tilt mirror up and you can see the clip you have to release to drop one side out(down)C244CDDE-DD5C-42DC-A13E-DE046EEAF4BA_zps_70c8ed91be29baa4895d6c5dd1dc12805cf295d2.jpg
    2. Once you release one side, it will look like this 5832A76A-51FB-4880-ABFB-5C2E404D6C67_zps_d445e378201bfbe6ed332eb7e3c3e309a2711ae6.jpg
    3. Pry the opposite side with a small flat screw driver and it will pop out 56E4EE01-4C0A-4E19-B740-1BA9125818DC_zps_11325c5d898e557010dc6140870197713ae491ea.jpg
    4. you can now just pull the entire assembly down & Unplug the two plugs 04BC2C59-E172-43BB-BE92-981C018A7EB0_zps_da0c69d5508b83a8c403e5f18efe034b848996b2.jpg
    5. Plug in the new assembly(make sure you push the connectors in until it clicks) 2BDB10C8-8937-4731-AB42-0F8B5201CA4D_zps_e24f882d6aab309f40eea0d2d38bb10ab40f8f96.jpg
    6. Test to make sure it turns on, put assembly up into mirror until it snaps in place79676E1D-F213-4881-82CD-6F6C10CB877C_zps_8e3d1d39e12d6dfe5ed01b0e378eaa9abd27a799.jpg
    7. Repeat on other side and enjoy that you have lights that work!!! *note:I took these photos on manual mode with the camera on the same settings so this truly depicts the lighting difference between OEM and LED replacements. Conclusion : These are a great upgrade from the OEM lamps. They fit perfect. You can actually see now with these. They are a bit pricey but they do perform well and do include all new assemblies. Quick shipping and free set of license plate LED's!

I really like those puddle lights. I'm thinking I could do that even with my tow mirrors. Nice pics/mod. Thinking others here will gladly copy what you did. Well done.:thumbsup:

That's awesome! Nice write up! I like your detail with the camera settings so we can truly see the difference! Wonder how hard it would be to add these to a truck that doesn't have them from factory.

Do tow mirrors have these puddle lights too? It truly is nice to have when walking up to your truck at night.

thanks, they do put out a lot of lumens

Thanks, I could not find much information on these and these seem to be the only option we have if we want LED puddles.
If you don't have factory puddles, it seems it will be a lot of work, unless you have the hole under your mirror already? If you have a hole under there, then all you would need to do is run a wire and tap it off the footwell light.

Great right up. Was just looking at my puddle lights yesterday & wanted some LEDs. I hate replacing Oem stuff if I had to permanently alter them however slight it might be

Very cool. Most likely will be doing this as soon as I wire the puddle lights up.

Nice write up! Do all Tundra trims have this capability, wiring in mirror just no hole for the lights...?

thanks, Im not sure if the wiring is there. Even if it isn't, It wouldn't be too hard to run a pair of wires to the footwell lamp and just splice it. Harder part would be cutting a perfect hole with the notches for the lamp. Doesn't seem worth it with all the hassles if your mirrors aren't prepped for it.

I got mine today, and thanks to your write up, I had them installed in minutes (including the license plate lights). These are a much brighter and whiter light. I love them. Thanks Blue.
Ordered led's for the whole interior yesterday also.

after some tinkering i learned that the aftermarket starter i use doesn't seem to turn the puddle lights on at all. one unlock with the factory fob and the dim little lights did their thing.

This is one of the options I've missed, didn't realize the Limited didn't have it at the time of purchase. I've looked at the bottom of my mirrors and there is a circle that looks more like a mold marking then a knock out but I've not had time to take the mirror apart to check. Do all mirrors have the knock out?

Has anybody that installed the license plate led's that come with these had any problems with them? I noticed the other day when I got out to close a gate behind me that mine were flickering. I may have to buy a different set. Blue, I know you said you didn't use these because you already had some installed, which ones do you have?

I prefer to use LED's from superbright LED's. They never give me any issues. i think on my Tundra though, I tried some Amazon ones but I don't recommend them.. they look cheap. i would either use Superbright LED's or VLED's if I were you.

Second that. I've tried Amazon and ebay sets of LEDs and they let about 2-3 months and start to flicker.
