When it comes to LED lighting, optical efficiency matters. Though most lighting options will have similar basic components, such as the LED circuit board, housing, and wire connector, the optical systems used by each light can be very different.

In this video, we compare and contrast the different major optical system types and designs used across the industry. Though they all serve the same purpose, which is collecting light from the light source - in this case the LEDs - and directing it out of the housing down the road or trail ahead, the resulting optical efficiency will vary.

Optical efficiency can be defined as how much light is actually getting onto the road or trail ahead compared to how much raw light is being generated overall.

To maximize optical efficiency, there are a few things to keep in mind. Though collecting and shining as much light from the housing as possible is the primary goal, avoiding glare and stray light is equally important, illuminating only what we want to see as the target.

The Total Internal Reflection (TIR) optics used in our Stage Series LED Pods, Lightbars, and Rock Lights serve as both the lens and the optic. While other options on the market lose up to 10% of their light output shining light through a separate lens, our TIR optics collect all of the light from the LED for greater efficiency and light output.

Stage Series beam pattern options were designed with advanced optical simulation modeling, to shape the output in highly-functional beam patterns with high efficiency.

Here at Diode Dynamics, we offer premium off road LED Pods, Lightbars, Rock Lights & more with highly efficient, useful beam patterns in a durable, compact package. No matter what you need for your off road lights, there is a Stage Series light for you!
