So, I bought an LED fog light assembly Morimoto look a like. When I installed it, it did not work, so I taught it was a dud. I had it replaced still nothing. I tested it with direct power and works just fine.

Do I need to direct wire it to the battery with a relay using the original plug as a trigger. Or just get a resistor adapter to make it work?

I don't think you need to do that. Should be plug and play. Does your stock fog lights turn on?

Maybe try changing the polarity of the plug? I had to do that to my led fog light install since it was inserted the wrong way and when I flipped it around, it turned on.
