I finally got around to installing my black emblems on the truck yesterday (did the the Tundra, iForce, and 4x4 on the tailgate). They don't make the SR5 in black, so the way I see it is I have two choices:

    1. Remove the SR5 badges
    2. Plastidip them

I'm leaning toward #1 because, frankly, it will be quicker (lazy, I know).

Need opinions on this silly and really unimportant "dilemma."

Just let the cans sit in some hot water for 10 mins and then shake vigorously before you apply if you go that route

Any worries with washing the truck? I use a pressure washer and I’m worried it will take the Plastidip off when I spray it.

Awesome, think I might finally give this a try. I’m in the same situation as the OP but a limited badge. Wish they just made them in black. No matter how many videos I watch it’s still a little scary spraying the truck though...

Just finally got around to debadging my truck today. Looks soooo much cleaner. Just toss the sr5s man really. Or take them off and if you miss them you can black them and stick them back on(highly doubt you would tho).

Dip em! I did mine when I switched all the other ones too black and I like the contrast. Holding up great, though I don't sit there with the pressure washer wand spraying them for hours at a time but my truck is always clean.

Heat gun on low setting... have patience... either fishing line or I used plastic “bondo” putty spreading tools... then some Goo Gone... wash with your favorite car wash!

Try getting the bulk of the adhesive off with your thumb or fingers before going too goo gone. I basically pushed/rolled the big chunks off when I swapped my big Tundra badge for a black one. It takes some elbow grease but it will come off...depending how old your truck is of course.

I used a wheel, Goo Gone'd the remaining minor smudges no elbow grease required at all, hosed it all off, dry, polish and wax.

100% can't tell there was a badge there before no matter how close the inspection, angle or lighting... that's the OCD check haha

For the other areas where I replaced, I did leave certain tiny smudges as markers for the new black badges.
