Aside from the bad gas mileage, which everyone has, my least liked feature is the recirc button on the HVAC controls. It only stays in recirc for about 5 minutes and then opens the outside air. That really annoys me. I've tried holding the button a few seconds like the owners manual suggests and it still goes off and opens to outside air. This is the first vehicle I've owned that the recirc goes off automatically. This really annoys me. When I push that button, I want it to stay on and then if i want outside air, I'll push again to open it. This is really stupid.

I’ll have to try my recirc button to see if it does that too. I find the gas mileage quite fair for the size of engine. I don’t like how far I have to reach for the radio controls (no steering wheel controls on mine). Mostly, everything is good though.

Yeah, I'm not too crazy about the radio controls either. What I also don't like are the clock setting buttons. You can't reach them without practically getting out of the seat.
I got much better mileage from my old '99 Tahoe with the old 5.7L/350 engine. I averaged 17mpgs without having to really try. I'm lucky to get close to 15 with my 4.7L Tundra.

A few minor irritating things, but the BIG thing I don't like is the frame rust problem.

I think I would have had frame rust instead of the bed rust I have. Toyota warrantied lots of the frame claims. You're SOL with bed rust.

Aside from gripes (like everything chiming, or the transmission logic), an actual "feature" I could live without is the traction control :D if that could not exist at all, that'd be great. And yes I know how to turn it off lol

I just started the process of soaking my frame in POR15 yesterday. Man that is nasty stuff!

I think my biggest gripe is the lack of storage inside the Crewmax cab. There's a lot of useful storage space underneath the seats, and I wish Toyota had copied Dodge (sooner) and made them fold up with bins underneath.

The Double Cab has that but the seat backs don't fold down. There's a mod for that here somewhere.

Unfortunately, I bought my '08 used, and the warranty recall on frame rust had expired before I found I had a problem. Since it would no longer pass the PA safety inspection, I had two ethical choices, pay to have it fixed or junk it. Since I still owe on it, I had to fix it.

It's just of many nannies these trucks have. I'd prefer to lock it myself if I really wanted to. I've rarely locked my doors for all my 40 years of driving. I never really locked my door before that as a passenger either and my parents never told me to either.

I would say the cheap brittle panels under the headlights. I broke the tabs off both sides, and no I am not a Bull In A China Shop:D I will say when I bought my 08 it was my first new vehicle, so I was stoked!. I wish I had the controls on the steering wheel, driving my wife's old 2005 Altima as my beater it's nice to control the radio from the wheel.

I always thought the overly recessed gauges sucked bigtime on my 07.
2.5 gen gauge layout is much better IMHO.....

When I first bought my 08 a few years ago I was driving in the rain and the windows started to fog up.
The defrost was set but I could not find the fan knob to turn it on. I looked everywhere. Got so bad I had to pull over and then that's when I found it. My truck has a column shift and the shifter blocks the fan knob from the drivers view when in drive. Just could not see it!
Now I know where to look!

The placement and angle of the reverse camera display on my 07 was quite frankly a total joke. I believe that was corrected with the 08 model.

NOTHING , LOVE IT ALL. As far as the back seat , just remove it , hammer down the catches , to about 30 degree angle and put seat back and go . works like a charm and no cutting .

I could only think of a couple minor things. The best thing was the lack of all the seemingly problematic nanny sensors that are relied upon too much anyways imho.

I have another one, you can't shift into a 2nd gear start or for that matter even the total lack of a manual transmission option in a Tundra.

Haven't had it for long, but my least favorite thing about it is that the sr5 model is lacking basic features that even my base model corolla has.

Auto headlights on my 2013 tundra? Nope. Despite my 1999 jeep grand cherokee, my 2006 f150, and my 2008 corolla have.

Basic mpg, distance to empty? Nope. Despite it being on all previous mentioned cars....

The list goes on... Don't get me wrong, I love the truck, and I love how reliable it is sure to be, and that's why I paid what I did for it... But cmon. >30k vehicle that doesn't have features that are 30 years old?

you sure you don’t have mpg and miles to empty? My base tundra has it with the clock
