By engaging your parking brake, then turning on the truck- your parking lights won’t come on when you start the truck. Blackout mode :transformer:

You know how you start it the two amber lights on the headlights come on? This eliminates it, temporarily.

Hmmn. Probably a different thread I haven't found with the answer, but we're near the topic: how can I get mine to never come on? Or at least not automatically. I am not a fan.

That’s been happening since the 90’s. My 93 Toyota pickup did that. And my old man also has a 93 that does the same.

Not on flat. Working to break my (lame, but set by years of repetition) habit of reaching for the hand-pull to undo the brake. Opens my hood. o_O

I do it on hills though, along with turning the wheel of course.

Should be pretty easy if controlled by a switch on the e-brake.

Hmmn. So if I figure that out, I could disconnect it...?

I think I read on here recently that a guy replaced his amber with white. That'd be an improvement. But best would be to make it off unless I turn it on.

Just looked at the wiring diagram. There is a wire connecting a switch on the parking brake to the main body ECU. It's a simple SPST switch. Not sure if the DRLs are off with the switch open or closed, but it will be the switch to access to turn off DRLs. But it will likely also lead to having your brake warning light on the instrument cluster stay on all the time if you disable the DRLs in that way.

Well. I don't like the ambers on all the time, but the only time I have to see mine are in the reflection of a tailgate in front of me. Having to look at a dummy light all the time would be worse. Probably I should check out swapping out the amber for white light. Thanks for the info!
