I have a 2016 with 48K miles on it. The brake light was turning on and I found the brake fluid at the min level then noticed the leak. Has anybody seen this issue before? Is there a gasket there or something I need to replace? I checked the bolts and they are tight.

Checked what bolts? Are you saying you checked the mounting bolts in the pic? No fluid there. However, it could be the master cylinder itself is leaking which would possibly explain why you have fluid running down the firewall.

Dumb question...is the reservoir cap on correctly?

Appears to me the MC seal is leaking where it bolts onto the vacuum booster. Fairly new truck and low miles...I'm surprised the MC took a dump. It's due for a brake fluid flush anyway. Bench bleed the new MC before installation, and try to keep all the tubes filled as much as you can. It'll pay off when you begin flushing the old fluid out and bleeding the system.

One of the easier parts to replace, just 4 bolts. You can see the slot in the MC where the fluid leaks out and started eating the paint. $160 for the MC and a couple bottles of brake fluid and your good to go.
