This is likely to be a slow build thread for a few reasons:

    - I'm married (heh)
    - Just got the truck in the middle of this COVID-19 crap
    - Busy AS crap with the job right now

But I still found time to do 2 mods - or to be honest, have the dealership do one mod and do another myself.

But the important part first...the truck. 2020 CrewMax 4WD SR5 w/TRD Off-Road Package. (Dog was not part of the deal...we already owned him. Heh.)

    Specifics below.

Next was the power tailgate lock. I actually almost got it free as part of the "March Madness" thing - I made a basket and got $100 in credit towards parts, and the part itself was $30. So I paid $30.

I then paid $150 to get it installed. *facepalm* Normally I wouldn't do this, but considering my job (IT guy for DoD), I'm busy as crap right now and making some OT, so I went ahead and had it done while at work. I'd post pics, but there aren't really any.

With that said, I DID get new steps (N-Fab Podium) installed with the rugrat this evening; and will post pics of them tomorrow.

On the list to do eventually:

    - Sound system upgrade (likely 5-channel amp to replace the factory amp; plus at least front/rear speaker replacements, and possibly a sub)
    - Wireless charger on the center console lid thing
    - Rail system
    - Upgraded/louder horn (if I can get away with it)
    - Carry-around first aid kit (wife is a nurse/first responder; I'm just 1st aid trained, Combat Lifesafer trained in the Army Reserves)
    - Rear sway bar

That's for starters. I need to spend more time being influenced by others here to get more ideas. :D

Thanks! And the funny thing is that his name is indeed 'Bear.' We got him as a rescue dog - as in, we thought were just taking a dog off someone's hands, but later realized we were actually rescuing him. We recently figured out that the guy who, uh, 'mistreated' him must have been a smoker, as he'll start to growl anytime anyone who smokes drives up, until they get out of the car and he recognizes them. We *think* he's a Newfoundland mix with something or other.

With that said...he is by FAR the best dog we've ever owned. He keeps all animals off our yard (if he kills them, I kid you not, he carries the dead animals into the woods), patrols our property at night, etc - AND he's a huge mama's boy. He is, however, scared as hell of big fat thunderstorms.

Agreed, but I just bought the truck, and I would have to clear it with Management (wife - LOL).

Honestly, I'll probably do it in a few months to a year, but considering I'd either have to buy them stock black and then paint them, or pony up the money, I can wait a few. (Plus wife says "I like the Chrome." LOL)

Got these installed last night literally right before a thunderstorm rolled in, so I didn't have time to get pics. N-Fab Podium steps. (Yeah yeah, I know they're not SDHQ or something, but they'll do the job, are well built, and the price was pretty decent.) I specifically went with these (although some other steps 'look' a bit 'cooler') because whereas most of the bars have 3 mount points, this set has 4. Very solid - they didn't flex even a little bit on me.

Or more. Keep an eye out in the marketplace, 2019 pros could be upgrading bumpers and have end caps for sale.

Gorgeous truck! Off subject, but we’re you able to score some sort of deal on this? My guess is the stealerships are really hurting for a sale... Contemplating on purchasing a new Tacoma for the Mrs.

She's actually got a Highlander; but still, she loves it anyways.

I actually got this truck just as all hell was breaking loose, so I'm not sure I got a *HUGE* deal, but I'd say I did get a good deal. MSRP on it was $48,061 (to be exact). I got them down to $41,700, and while that doesn't include taxes (taxes are around $1800), it DOES include:

    - all other fees
    - 4 years (not 2) of maintenance (oil changes, rotations, fluids checked, car washes)
    - 3/36 bumper-to-bumper
    - 100K powertrain warranty
    - lifetime (unlimited miles, unlimited time) engine warranty
    - $100 certificate towards parts on the truck :D

After trade-in, note on it is $30K flat. I'll be paying at LEAST $1K a month on it, $2K if possible, so as to get it paid off ASAP.

(Side note: The truck does qualify for the whole 3-month deferred payment thing, but being as my job is secure - DoD IT guy, 'essential personnel' - I'd rather pay off the truck sooner.)

I had to ask my wife. He's a Newfoundland/Border Collie mix (Borderland? LOL)

We figured out how smart he was when my wife once went to drive to do some errands. Bear was just going apesh!t barking at the bottom/underneath the car and actually CHASED my wife for a few hundred feet. So anyways, she drove to Walmart, then to get some gas, then to the grocery store. While waiting for someone...she heard a 'meow.' She realized it sounded just like our cat....so she opened the hood and there our cat sat on the battery, super-pissed. :eek2:

We'd figured out Bear was essentially trying to explain to Mom there was a freakin' CAT stuck in her car. :D He is an 'outside dog.' By that we don't mean he's not allowed inside...we mean he WON'T come inside (unless it's like 10 degrees, or thunderstorming like a sunuva, in which case he'll camp out in the basement). He patrols our property, kills animals for us (armadillo, coyote, gophers/groundhogs, etc.) and likes pets from Mom. LOL

As of a few minutes ago, I've got a 10" sub enclosure on order from Tech12Volts. :D Their email specifies that it takes a while for it to get here because, due to the reinforcement of their boxes, the stuff takes a while to cure and stinks to high heaven, and therefore they have to let it cure before UPS will accept it. Which is great, actually....because in a week or so I'll order a JL Audio 10W1 and likely a LOC, and then a week or so after that, a 5-channel amp. Once THOSE are here, I'll either install it myself, or (more likely) have the local audio shop install them.

...and as of a few minutes ago, I also have a JBL Stadium 5 amp on order from Tech12Volts, along with the install kit (rack to allow installation under passenger seat; wiring; 4-channel Entune adapter thingy, etc.)

In about a week, I'll either order a JL 10W1, or pick one up locally, and then contact the local audio shop for an install date and cost. I'll def. post pics once done.

Got the sub/amp installed...and it sound(s/ed) like crap. I was mystified as to why, until I actually got down and looked @ how the amp was configured (in an attempt to tweak the amp settings).

Instead of running a line from the amp to the subwoofer, they appear to have simply tied the subwoofer in with the rear channel. WTF.....

Bringing it back to them today to have them do just that, and then likely will either do future work myself OR make sure any installers are vetted. I'm not the most intelligent guy who ever lived, but to me that seems like a rookie mistake.

Update: So both one of the installers, and myself, are an idiot. I forgot to ask myself, when looking @ the amp, if I was looking at the INPUT side or not. I shoulda known better.

With that said, one of the 'trainees' did the install. Fantastic job, actually, very impressed with the install quality...but then he said "Eh, let's max out the gain/bass boost and totally not adjust low/high pass or any of the other stuff." LOL Boss scooched the seat back and loosened the amp and tweaked it to my liking, and it sounds freakin' fantasic.

K170's and sail panels will be here Monday, and I will likely install those myself. :)
