    Hey guys.

Reaching out here for some support on my newly installed rear shocks.

I’ve noticed a bit of oil leakage/seepage from the left rear shock. Just wondering if this is normal or if this is something I should contact king on and see what’s going on. Hate to take it off the truck right after installing but want to catch anything before larger issues arise.

    See attached

When I had Kings in my Tacoma I noticed the same thing. I don’t believe it is an issue. You can always email king a pic they are very repsonsive.

this is happening to mine (same shock) as well. my leak is very slow and coming out the bottom, just like yours. i wipe the shock clean at night and by morning, there's a small drip at the bottom.

i have a new seal kit and will be rebuilding them in the next few days.

If it were me I’d would wipe everything clean and keep and eye on it for the next few days if it’s still showing signs of seepage I’d contact king and let them know what’s going on. Just my .02 GoodLuck

    hit post too soon.

i had ben at filthy motorsports crawl under the truck and take a look a couple of weeks ago. he wasn't concerned but suggested new seals just in case. and @sdhq_offroad told me the same when i spoke to them.

Four years of rather hard use:

    Not one drop of oil.

Guess I should clean my TJ after off roading....shocks dirty.

Is that oil spot on your tire and wheel from the shock leak? Looks like it was dripping overnight in that one spot in the picture.

Looks like the seal cap is not tightened down all the way as well.

my 3.0s on the rear are right out of the box as well. granted, they sat in my garage for 5 months but that shouldn't be an issue.

Mine sat for 6 months, but were never charged either (shipped that way).

However, the shocks where cycled a lot on my build.

That’s correct. I wiped it this am and the photos was after a day of highway driving. I feel like it shouldn’t be leaking like this too. The right side shock isn’t like this.

Based off the build date they are only a few weeks old-maybe a month.

    Mod your truck they said:bananadead:

So customer service is quick! Here is their reply: “This is normal, there is also a little oil between the wiper cap and seal cap that weeps out as the shock cycles. Just keep your eye on it and make sure it does not become excessive.”

I’ll keep my eye on it this weekend. If it stays the same then I’ll feel a little better, it it continues I’ll adress it from there.

hmm. mine was ‘weeping’ in the box. there was about a tablespoon or two of oil in the bag when i opened it. it’s been on the truck for about 3 weeks and a few hundred miles. i check it every day and the visible amount of oil has stayed the same. not sure what to do now but i’ll touch base with them myself on monday.

been trading emails the past couple of days. latest response is...

"If the shock is leaking oil the pressure would be low. Since you have a way to pressurize the shock and you have the seals already. I would remove it from the truck pressurize the reservoir to 300 psi and let it sit for a few hours, so you can tell where it leaking from. Also do a carful inspection of the shock once removed."

low pressure was something that @ColoradoTJ first mentioned to me. if yours is still leaking, i'd head over to someplace and get the pressure checked.

Figured I’d post a visual update 5days after the photos in the original post. This is the drivers side shock currently:

    586CE253-44FF-455C-AFDC-E01F4D8AD1DC.jpg

Does this quantify to “excessive” for you guys? I’m on the fence

it looks like mine. not excessive but consistent. wipe it clean then within a few hours there’s a drip. check the pressure. there’s a good chance that’s it. i’ll know if that’s my issue by the end of the week. @ColoradoTJ we gots works to dos on friday...

if everything we did to our truck was easy, that’d take 87.34% of the fun out of it...

I’ll wipe it and check later on this evening.

Let me know how the pressure test goes and if the new seals fix the issue. Looks like I might be following suit...

That is a true statement. It’s supposed to be “bolt on” lol. I am always impressed with the info I get here
