Just got home from Dealer for a Lunar TRD Pro Runner

As the thread states we went today to purchase a new LR runner. Last night I was told there was a $10k markup instead of the usual $15-$20k markup in our area. SoCal.

Get to the dealer and they refused to let us test drive it like it was a national treasure Lamborghini and not a 4runner. lol They tell me its their policy on all Pro models which they had 2.

Then I see the sticker. Overnight they marked it up to $15k Markup.

I laughed as they said there were others looking into it. Before I could leave the lot there was 2 groups that were inside of it. I guess they walked off the lot laughing too as the Dealer Manager keeps texting me now begging for us to comeback. I let him know a sucker will come through....

They rather run a Museum then a dealership and let someone who was willing to give a little over msrp drive off their lot that just purchased a LR Tundra 2 weeks ago.

Off to look at 4 more today. Wish me luck!

Yea I bought mine for a little under msrp after taxes and fees. I wasn’t trying to rip them off and steal the thing I don’t mind them making a little money but good gravy 15k over window for it because it has some fox shocks on it? Lmao

 

They had a MGM Pro with $10k Markup as well which I found funny as they told me they only marked up due to the color on the Lunar Rock one.

 

So just for giggles I went to Kelly blue book and punched my truck in, which is a one year old 2020 with 8k miles. Private party value is more than the msrp.

Check out the FJ Cruisers with much more mileage. $50k still lol

 

I thought the pickings were slim last January so I can’t imagine what shopping for one must be like now if they are asking that much

 

There's 5 around me landed in Lunar rock. I can fly to New Mexico and drive 1 back at msrp.

 

what the hell is wrong with people. That's insane pricing.

 

Greed! Like they don't make mark up on their Dealer Invoice and Bonus incentives already. On top it adds an extra $1500 in taxes/fees to the consumer.

 

Who gets all the extra money?

The dealer?

Toyota just sets MSRP but a dealer is free to do whatever they want on top of it.

 

That’s absolutely ridiculous; I had a 2014 4runner and used that thing. Never let me down, never let me stranded and always was a blast to drive. Had it accessorized and it was great - until it got totaled by some jack wagon running a red light.

As good of a vehicle as it was, there is NO a SHOT IN HELL I would ever pay 70k for one no matter what. That’s just absurd

 

I thought my gfs 2020 nightshade was overpriced at about 52k I think.... That’s insane. Just like plywood being $50 a sheet now.

No test drives on TRD pros?! I wish that was the policy where I got my tundra. Damn thing had 50 miles on the odo when I got it off the showroom floor

Got lucky on my tundra I was the only test drive. They stated I own the Tundra already so it's about the same.

 

I'm pretty sure my new-off-the-lot '88 4Runner was less than the dealer markup on this one.
