some wanted some pictures so I set up in my driveway and snapped a few. I’m really happy with the size. I’m 6’3”, 250, wise shoulders and felt plentiful. I took one of me, my 10 year old and 4 year old to show size. It is around 36 degrees Fahrenheit and it was at least 50 inside. Blocks the wind nicely, I had shorts and t shirt and felt comfortable (after this long lingering winter). The light is nice and bright. The fan is a great idea. I’ll update with more opinion once I get to use it more. I’m currently leaving it open to air out, not that it smells. I just like tents to off gas before I start sleeping in them.

Edit: one thing I want to figure out is a better place for shoes, especially in inclement weather. Today I used one of the gear pods.

Thats nice. The Leitner rack puts it at the perfect height over the cab. I haven't done much research on the Jame Baroud tents, but is that fan an exhaust fan?

nice tent! I have seen vestibules for those where it covers the ladder and entrance to keep gear dry but accessible

Yes, but it connects to the awning. I don’t think you can use it without the awning

    Awesome!

We love our JB Grand Raid XXL. We're going on 2 years with it and have almost 100 nights in it. Eh, maybe like 80?

Anyway, yeah, placement of shoes in inclement weather. I put my first shoe upside down in the space left between the mattress and the tent fabric at the bottom of the tent. Then the other shoe goes on top of it so the soles face each other.

We just camped in it in 9* F in the San Juan mountains in Colorado last week. And we've slept in it at over 100*. Either way, it's one of the most comfortable tents we've had.

It looks like you already figured out you can press the legs out and 'pop' the tent taut. It took me a year to figure that out.

If you haven't already noticed, it closes much easier if you leave a couple windows partway unzipped. I usually do the door windows and leave the doors unzipped up to the window seam.

oh, and if you want to run an awning, we have the ARB and like it quite a bit. The JB one we weren't quite sure about, and we wanted to be able to zip on the room underneath the awning. We had some hinged posts fabbed so we can just drop it into the bedposts on either side of the truck, or off the back over the tailgate.

I have a gear pod I used for shoes but limited space. I may finagle something I can hang off the leitner rack.

What did you use for heat? Sweet setup

Our two dogs, Lisa and my body heat is all we had. The small space retains heat nicely. We use a comforter under us and two on top of us, plus one on top of the dogs. I mean, it was cold, but we still slept. JB sells a cold weather curtain made of thin foam that attaches to the velcronstrip around the top of the tent on the inside. We have one, but have never used it.

That’s true. We hate it. Especially when we’re packed and waiting for everyone else to close their tents. It drives me to drink.

Bump! Still have the tent? How do you like it on the Leitner Designs rack? I am about to pull the trigger on a tent. Now just to find a mounting solution.

The leitner rack is the only rack I would use, especially for this. I've had it mounted on for a year, thousands and thousands of miles, on and off road with no issues. Pretty easy install with two people.
