I agree and disagree. I'm more than particular and shopped all of the big three and previously owned RAM 1500 Limited. RAM has a superior interior finish and tech. Ford and GM do not. They just have more useless tech, and cool appearing stuff designed to make you hate it over time. The dash of the Fords is a great example of their manipulative bullshit. Let's create a bunch of pointless seams in the dash to collect dust and dirt and make your $60k plus truck (soon to be $30k BTW ) look dirty all the time. This is part of Ford's subtle planned obsolescence to make people look at their dirty dash seams and decide that they need a new truck sooner. Toyota doesn't play this bullshit.

Every Ford or GM owner that gets into my 2018 Platinum is blown away by how nice the finish is and how nice the materials are. I' m never impressed in the Ford or GM 1/2 tons. Now the RAMs, that is another story.

Can I ask why you getting a 2500?

I drove a RAM for a couple weeks when the tundra was in the body shop from a deer strike. Hemi motor was wicked fast, but the inside felt cheap. I'm guessing since it was a rental that it was the lower trim level. Just wasn't really impressed with much at all on that truck. Hated the "dial a gear", seemed like it was right next to the dial for the climate controls.

I doubt that will happen. Don’t get caught up in the internet hysteria of trucks constantly breaking down. I’ve seen a ton of tundras in the shop including mine, and plenty of rams that have never been in the shop once.

I’ve lived all over the country and am a high desert rat as well. There are many Toyota’s here, but I think that has to do with proximity of dealers (Dolan Toyota in Reno) and how cheap they are.

Yea a ram 2500 is truly the only other truck out there worth it compared to a tundra.

I always see reliability ratings on the ram 1500 but never on the power wagon. Is the power wagon better than the 1500 reliability wise? Kind of like how the F250 is a little more reliable than the F150.

My brother has 1500 ram and in 2 years of his ownership it had him stranded 2 times already. First time turbo had to be replaced (went in limp mode)and just recently a fractured driveshaft.Luckily all was cover by warranty. Btw Ram has a recall on the driveshaft because it may fall off. @TundraLaw

I just drove the 2500 again, and doing paperwork now. Going to go Laramie diesel. Msrp 70k, getting for 52 OTD.

    taking my tundra for 47k.

btw, interior is very solid and way more functional than the tundra.

Check back in a year or two and let us know how the Ram works out. I am looking at Ram and GMC 2500s in the future as well, primarily for increased payload/towing. Really like the Tundra but CM 4x4 payload is causing problems with travel trailer selections.

Why do those things plummet in value? 70k sticker but yea! I got it for 52. Meanwhile you don’t lose a dime on the Tundra.
Good luck, all vehicles are a crap shoot. You may drive that thing and have zero issues or it may be a total POS.
When you get on those Ram forums you’ll no doubt see plenty of pissed off owners.

He has three vehicles listed in his header in three years. He will unload that Ram as soon as a few issues pop up. But not until he tells the entire Ram forum what a hunk of shit they are driving.

    Lol ok big guy!

I’ve been on this forum a long time. I know what the tundra is good at and what it isn’t. I can see the writing on the wall, and I’m getting out before the new body style.

if you want to take jabs at me, make it count

I would have gone with a 2019 Ram Laramie 2500 MegaCab Diesel, a very impressive truck, if I had more towing needs. The deal I worked on for it was like yours ($75k MSRP reduced to $59k). I ended up going with a 2019 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. Negotiated for over a month and got the deal I wanted on Nov 30 ($69k MSRP down to $54,500). It’s a great truck.

I too have owned several Tundras (Limited, 1794, Platinum). They are solid, excellent (for their age) vehicles. And I’m a Toyota loyalist having owned Land Cruisers of many generations (80, 100, 200) plus FJ Cruisers, a 2018 Sequoia Platinum, 4-Runners, and a few Lexus LX and GX’s. Having said all of that, I don’t think pitting the Tundra against a RAM 2500 is a fair comparison. The 2500 is a solid, beast of a truck. And I agree with you: The Tundra remodel is sorely needed and likely appearing in 2022. Until then, I’m going to enjoy the Power Wagon which has no equal competition from Toyota (not even the TRD Pro), GMC, or Ford (though the Tremor package is going to try).

How did a "recall" thread get to this debacle.

@TundraLaw good luck with your choice, drive safe, and that's that.

The rest of us that do or do not agree with the choice, we still drive Tundras.

I just wanted to find out about the recall...

When the 2021/2022 comes out it will be drastically different, and “shit on” the current generation. Good luck with that resale value!

On the daughters 2018 it had a noise and they could not find it. She stayed on them and one morning when she took it in one of the mechanics found it it was the hood and AC mount. They tighten it up and no problems since. She let the dealer she bought it from know too. Because she bought it someplace different than where she lives. Ok so back to the OP????? I looked at every post where is everyone at with the problem?? In Texas you take it in three times and they don’t fix it it falls under the Lemon law!!! Marvin fixed that before he passed away due to cancer!!!

This thread got derailed. It’s starting to sound like a Tesla cult forum. Let the guy do what he wants with his own money. Why chastise him for it? This really does sound like a Tesla form where everything by Tesla is OK and everyone else who is against it is an asshole. Are we gonna start yelling a diesel truck owners for coal rolling us?

Wrong. The guy is/was bagging on Toyota. He could have gracefully conceded that the Tundra wasn’t working for him instead of saying “the quality of Toyota trucks is terrible”. Which, by the way, is ridiculous. Reference post 102
Many on here have gone on to other manufacturers and have gotten excellent support and interest from this forum. So, your point about it being like a Tesla forum is off. Most are not one sided and most know all makes have good qualities to them. It’s all about how you handle your business.

When third gen tundras came out resale of 2 gens was pretty damn high still and is still right now if you compare ram/ford 2012-13 vs same year tundra
