That stinks man, sorry to hear that. My 2018 has been rock solid. I know how aggravating it can be to get a particular truck with issues, though. My 2016 Tacoma almost had me swearing off Toyota entirely. Hopefully they can get your issues worked out.

I ask this question out of curiosity for my own knowledge: what would you switch to that you think would be more reliable or have a higher build quality than a Toyota?

Hey guys, I had a creak as well but it wasn't from the bed. It creaked every time I made a right turn or articulate the wheels to the right. I'm not sure if anyone is experiencing this but the tech found that it was the brake lines rubbing against the fire wall (after going through everything from suspension to interior) and has insulated it, no more creaking noise. It drove me crazy! no more creaks and it's been 3 weeks now.

I just rolled 19k miles on my 2018. Rear end had to be removed and resealed, trailer brake controller flashed for disconnect issue, passenger side cam tower weeping since 1500 miles and low payload (1100lbs) of CM significantly limits my travel trailer options. Not what I expected when I jumped from the Ford ship but not all that terrible of that is the end of my issues. Starting to look closer at the GM 2500 trucks even though i was supposed to keep this tundra for 15 years. Not happy with our GM tahoe but the 2500 diesels seem to be solid.

I would think they would have to offer a loaner if they would not state the truck was safe..?

Toyota giving a loaner lol. No way, they tell you to rent. That's my experience from Vancouver Toyota when it was a warranty work for 2 days. Or they offer to shuttle you that's it.

Chevy gave me a loaner on factory warranty work.

Get ready for a giant F*** you from Toyota. Opening a case will do nothing. Dealer will do nothing. I’ve had the rear bouncy suspension problem from day one and Toyota will do nothing. They want your sale and nothing else.

We all have bouncy rear suspension. Depends on the road you’re riding on. All trucks I’ve owned will do this to some extent. Different wheelbase will do it on different roads usually on concrete joints. For me me, new shackles with poly bushings helped but not gone completely. OE shackles are in a bind due to design.

If all the tundras will do it, why would they fix just yours? There is no real fix. Notorious “bed bounce”

It really has nothing to do with the manufacturers it the dealership that makes the call. I always ask, sometimes they say no most times they say yes. Hell the Lexus dealer here offers it for maintenance sometimes.

From what Chevy dealership told me, they bill Chevy for the rental. They're not the one paying the rental.

Correct, they charge back what they can and what they can’t if they are a good dealership they will eat.

    It’s the dealerships call

I'll post a video of how bad it is. Why would they fix mine? You'll see. Also, maybe fix it because it's a $53000 truck or because I'm a loyal customer, or they want to keep my business? Also, go drive the TRD Pro, zero bounce. It's a problem with rear shocks that are not valved properly for the vehicle.

If you drive on any cement freeway it bounces so bad that it feels like a 1970 3/4 ton ford with no give at all.

I have pro suspension and it does it still, just not as bad ad it did before. I guess yours must be really bad.

The Tundra does ride a little rougher then other trucks. If you run a little weight in the bed it might help? I have a tonneau on mine with my boats spare tire and about 50 lbs of tools. It seemed to help on the concrete roads.

I like the way my Tundra rides. It feels solid, and built to last. I wonder if something is off with yours?

Rides like an old School truck. Definitely not as smooth as Chevy Silverado or f150. There Silverado rode like a Cadillac soft and smooth.

A lot of folks have complained about the new GM twins being very bouncy too. The trucks are lighter but payload is the same or higher than the previous gen, necessitating a fairly stiff suspension.

That must be maddening!!!! Can’t imagine dealing with that all the time.

One thing for you all to check - I had my truck into the dealer for my first service. I had them check out a creaking noise (similar to a bed creak) from my driver side rear wheel well....also sounded like the brakes were rubbing at very low speeds. Turns out it was a bent left axle shaft. Apparently it came from the factory that way. They replaced it under warranty and the noise is completely gone. Some of you are describing similar sounds to what I was hearing and I know this was a known issue from the factory on the Tacoma’s for a while. The FSE said this was the first tundra that he saw with that issue but makes me think there may be a bad batch in circulation.
