Wonder if the chip shortage is going to affect the rollout.

This is exciting and really cool!

But, why would Toyota change over to a turbo 6 for one year just to make it practically obsolete one year later?
    That’s not their MO.

If the Prius hasn’t gone full EV or even had any hints of it then why would the Tundra? This is malarkey.

Also didn’t Toyota say in the past they would move forward with their hydrogen tech and not EV’s?

The bed's large enough to haul one of these. Just load it up, plug it in, and cruise as far as you like. :burnrubber:

Lmao, you guys get too wound up on this stuff. I highly doubt Toyota will release a Tundra that is lacking in capability. I think their engineers know more about what they're doing then the arm chair engineers who watch a few youtube videos and get angry at public statements without seeing spec sheets. Yes the world is moving green, but it doesn't happen overnight and manufacturers don't plan on leaving behind the people who use their trucks out in the field or those who build stuff. I think in 8 years we'll be singing the praises of our hybrids or EVs on how capable they are and modern etc etc. And those of us who still have the V8s will still be saying how much we love the sound and old school power, etc etc.

nope. I'd be happy with a plug-in hybrid so long as it's backed up by a real engine and not a couple of hamsters.

The problem with hybrids on long-hauls is that the battery runs down and you go on with an under-powered engine bouncing off the redline (I exaggerate but you know what I mean.)

And that's without the slave-labour cobol mining in the Congo and the filth and pollution in the Chinese lithium mines - also defacto slave labour.

I think in 8 years we'll still be laughing at those that bought into the hybrid & EV hype.

Hydrogen fuel cells are the long term alternative fueled vehicles of the future.42592181_10155859182500003_7157443117656834048_n.jpg

Didn't Toyota's CEO just tell Japan's government like two weeks ago that its goal of 100% EVs on the road in like 15 years is unattainable?

Hydrogen is a fantastic alternative for heavy vehicles, not only a giant market, but just freight alone consumes crazy amounts of fuel. Now, if only we could make green hydrogen :(

    Got a link?

Last time I checked (if photovoltaic) it's not all that efficient (30%), still expensive for the end-user and does not account for losses during use.
Then there's the bacterial generated hydrogen... long way to go, AFAIK.

As adoption/infrastructure increases, there'll be higher demand for blue to become green and so on. So yeah, Blue is a good start :)

What I heard was that the bacterial process has been combine with solar... it sounded like a potential breakthrough.

I heard that Japan is very interested in clean hydrogen but they also want it to be cost effective.
