I sold my 2008 tundra double cab to buy this one. Having a 2 year old, I couldn’t fit the kid in his car seat in back, and my wife up front. That just wasn’t going to do it, so I looked until I found this. Nice 60 year old fella drove it from Odessa to Houston for me. Had 34k on it and a 3/2 level kit with some ugly wheels. Driver seat bolster had the typical 1794 wear, and a leaky right rear shock.

Well... hated the wheels. So I threw on some rock warriors on 34.5s that we’re off my old truck. Made it look good.

Then to address the leaky shock. I realized from my last tundra I am just not a fan of a stiff ride. I went through the following suspension:

    Level kit on stockers
    5100s
    Icon
Kings (a million variations of valving and springs)

They all ride to rough. I’m a wimp. I like to be comfy. Especially now that I had a seat heater and fancy stuff.

So I found a used set of ADS triple bypass shocks. Threw them on. Immediately better than anything I ran on my tundra. Night and day difference. I can’t say enough about them. They are that good.

Now you will see they are on the stock springs at this point. We are leaving on a trip to Michigan and I just wanted them on there. Rode great all the way to Traverse City, MI from Houston and back.

    MAJOR MISSHAP!

So whatever chucklehead put this lift on here didn’t tighten the damn u bolts properly. I’m not sure exactly what happened but it seems like the springs shifted on one another, things twisted, and the axle moved to the driver side about an inch. This caused the ADS shock to hit the banjo bolt on the right rear brake caliper and loosen it, and no more brakes. Luckily it worked out ok because I am basically second only to Ricky Bobby I’m driving skills. Actually I was super lucky and it scared the crap outta me. I had my 2 year old and wife in the car. Not cool. Put it up on a friend of my uncles lift, got everything back where it should have been, torqued everything like it should be, and checked how the shocks were clocked. Good to go!

Installed 2019 LED headlights. Found a cat on Facebook marketplace selling some headlights WITH ihacker or whatever adapters for 475. I don’t see well at night due so I thought let’s do it! Bright as heck at night!

ADS 2.5 clicker coilovers showed up today. Excited to get them on, but was stupid and don’t have my UCA picked out. Talked with a lot of folks and didn’t want to deal with the uniball, but honestly I think most UCAs out there are crap. I have had a lot, and didn’t like any of them so far. Called Matt at MCM and he’s shipping me a set of his uniball UCA. When the uniball need replaced maybe I can retrofit some deltajoints or something in there.

Also have the K37s and total chaos shackles sitting in the garage from my old truck. Going to get the front set up, get the k37s on, and drop it off at the shop to get the springs rearched. Then align everything. CRAP I just realized I didn’t order a set of u-bolts. FML.

    10/23
MCM Control arms showed up. Finally. Said they were shipping next day. Not going to dwell on that. They are beautiful. Unfortunately I don’t have time to put crap in the truck for a bit now.

    10/29
FREAKING ASTROS. WHY CANT THEY JUST WIN?!?!

    11/3
Well. It took me 6 hours, but the Coilovers are on there complete with nice new upper control arms. Broke a wrench and hit myself in the head and bleed all over everything but hey... whatever.

    11/7
Took the Tundra to Duggy’s Garage and had the Tundra aligned. Glad to get out of the wife’s 2001 and back into mine. The newer trucks are so much nicer to drive.

    11/8
Freaking hole in the reservoir hose on passenger side front. Barely weeping. I can’t win. Ordered a new hose and 4 seal kits so I’m never stuck with a blown out shock again.

    11/14
K37s rearched and now they and the shackles are on. Also, now on methods and 37s. Let’s just say they rub on full compression in the back.

    11/16
Wife “sorta kinda” rolled her 4Runner and put a little dent in the hood. Talked with spotter guy she was wheeling with and apparently she tried to endo it on a steep off balance descent and it caught the corner of the hood and it stayed upright till they pushed it back. PDR guy popped it out... so man it could have been so much worse. Need to rebuild her Kings and replace a bunch of spherical joints on all the icon billet garbage. Also BONUS, hose for my shock was waiting at house along with some new stickers.

    11/25
Whelp... that didn’t last long. The 37s rub to much when you stuff em. I’m not willing to cut my truck enough to make them fit. Back on rock warriors and 35s. Tires sold, wheels on my brothers Land Cruiser.

Lots of updates to above build. Also I’m going to flat out say the ADS shocks and Coilovers are just hands down better than king. Ride is better, build is better, everything. Also 37s don’t fit. I give up. Not cutting anything else up at this time.

I will try and take some tomorrow. Looks the same with different suspension. I think I’m going to black it out. But first... stereo is in the works. I can’t take the JBL crap anymore. There’s no freaking room for amps.
