I saw this at the 2019 Carlisle Truck Nationals but only photographed it from a distance and did not go in for a closer look. It appears to have smaller tires and lower suspension than a 4x4. It has also been thoroughly debadged, so I can't even tell if it's a 4.6L or 5.7L truck (much less if it's a 4x4 or not) based on that...

I also cannot tell for sure if this blue one is 2WD or 4x4...

If I get a winch on my 2WD, can I overland with the BASTRDs and SGU?!
Charlie, I think the only way to tell is to look under . Yes, usually 2WD might sit lower, but the TRD 2WD look the same as 4WD from a distance.

Sr's don't come with badges so it wasn't " debadged". But mostly the standard bed SR's are 4.6. And it could still be 4x4. I park next to a sr5 and my truck sat 1" lower and both are 4x4 so hard to tell if it is 2wd.

    To many
it is probably a sr base package. mine look exactly the same stock. i have a 2014 dc and a 2014 single cab.

my trucks looked like the trucks they use for repairing train tracks. the tires were well with in the fenders giving it a narrow wheel stance and truck look like it sat low too.

cheap lift new tires and rims make all the difference.

also the sr does not come with badging except just one 4x4 chrome badge on tailgate. I see his tailgate is down in the picture. 20190529_143350.jpg 15655321668137327304913359600829.jpg

Yeah tundras are impossible to judge. 2wd and 4wd base models have all the same wheel tire combos. Same for trd models

Same with the new GM SUVs and certain GM trucks; I've been into Chevy trucks longer than I've been into Toyota trucks, but once I was old enough to drive I told my dad I wanted a Toyota truck (my wish came true!)...

2WD Chevy Silverados and GMC Sierras are generally easily identifiable by the smaller tires, slightly lower suspension/ride height, and lack of 4x4 badges. It was apparently possible to order 2WD 2007-2013 Silverado 1500s with the Z71 package (according to Chevy's online "build your own" tool), but I've have never seen one in person. Why would anybody want a Z71 2WD? Same reason people buy a Tacoma PreRunner! They want a truck with beefed up suspension and higher ride height, but have no use for 4WD and thus don't want the decreased MPGs and potential higher maintenance costs that come with it! Or they can't afford a 4x4 but want people with untrained eyes to think they have one...

GM SUVs with 4WD are virtually impossible to discern from 2WD models from 2000 onward. The GMT-400 platform (1988-2000 for the trucks, 1992-1999 for the SUVs; 2000 for the Tahoe) was the last generation where it was easy to tell 2WD from 4WD. 2WD 1500 models have 5-lug patterns while 4WD 1500 models have 6-lugs. The 2WDs are also noticeably lower than the 4x4s. 2WD 2500 models are lower to the ground than the 4x4s but have the same 8-lug pattern...

This is my dad's daily driver, a 2018 GMC Yukon GLT 4x4; Virtually indistinguishable from 2WD models in my opinion...

Those trucks pictured above in question were part of my group at Carlisle. The white one is a 4x4 4.6l Sr, the blue one is my old truck and is now owned by a good friend of mine. It's a 4x4 sr5 5.7, I had taken off the 4x4 badges and Sr5 badges.

Pennsilvertaco, you go to Carlisle every year?

I'd be happy to meet up with you guys, but I can tell you I don't camp in anything but an air-conditioned motorhome or trailer with its own bathroom! :D
