Sending 500 watts to 2 10" JL audio subs will 14gauge be fine?

    Alot of them
Are you talking speaker or power wire? I wouldn't run anything smaller than fused 4 guage to the amplifier.

Yes you are ok with 14g wire. If you plan on doing 1000w then 12g will be a good choice.

Make sure it's OFC, might as well do it right the first time.

Length of run has a lot to do with determining guage. I use this chart. It can be found here.

I don't think this chart is accurate enough because music is dynamic. There are so many variables.

That was the reason why I posted the chart. With your first reply you disregarded all those varibles, and just gave your opinion. Albeit your opinion may work, but is it the optimum result? One will never know if at least some of the variables are considered.

You're right. The chart does state the he or she is utilizing maximum wattage output.

I have gone overkill on all of my wiring for my audio build because I do not want wire size to compromise sq. If I want to utilize maximum wattage I ll know the wiring will handle it. Ive not really studied the nuances of getting exact specs. Here is an interesting site that has an actual calculator one can input several variables and get a result. It shows a few of those variables that need to be considered.

I think you're fine. 14ga is what the "installer we all know and love" ships with his systems. Don't overthink it.
