Anyone here installed a rear dash cam and can point to a link or have some pro tips as to how to route the cable, what interior pieces need to be removed, how the clips work in the 3rd gen Tundra, etc. I see several threads about dash cams in general but nothing specific for this aspect.

My dash cam came with a rear camera and cable, but I didn't want to open up a can of worms by lowering the headliner and I didn't see any other way to do it, so I left it off. I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone has a better answer.

IIRC that's how I did it on my Tacoma... but maybe not really lowering it so much but pressing the cable under the edge. But's been awhile and I don't remember. But after having a rear cam I am going to feel naked driving around out there without one.

I have a Blackvue camera on my 2018. I just tucked the cable into the plastic trim at the headliner. It's been fine.

I'll have to look at the trim on the 3rd gen to see if that looks doable.

I was able to get it tucked behind the edge headliner and only had to remove the C pillar trim and drop the front part of the headliner. I had to do the front headliner to wire in the dash cam anyways.

Got a Viofo A229 duo 2K coming. I had the 129 Pro Duo in my Tacoma and it worked great. I am going to try to make this work with the Dongar adapter for the existing socket in the overhead for now. Maybe do the hardwire kit and battery later if I decide I really want to use parking mode.

I installed the thinkware u1000 with the rear cam. I just used a long borescope and made my way through the headliner to the rear passenger corner, once there just used the borescope as a fishing tape and used it to pull the cable. Took a bit to get the borescope there but it was easier than dropping the headliner.

That's a good idea. I have these super thin and flexy fiberglass fish rods that might work, and not damage the headliner like a coat hanger wire could.

I used to make the adapters as a hobby until Dongar spun up on them, see pic below. The connector can be pinned to either Hot or Ignition. Another Dashcam thread on that somewhere here. Then I cut off the Dc-Dc convertor and put on the Vantrue N4 hardware kit since my truck sits for a week most day. That is the way to go.
