    I’ll start.
I had unexpected weekend overtime time Saturday morning when we found the repairs Johnson Controls did Friday afternoon shit the bed. Had to get the redneck engineering in full force because we don’t have a drop ceiling for the condenser air in our main electrical room that also holds the main UPS for the whole campus data center.

Not an interesting pic, but nothing matches this (from when I was in the shipyards 20 years ago or so).

Was in the Navy, and the USS Enterprise was in the shipyards at the time. I was standing quarterdeck watch, along with my Commo (communications officer) who happened to be the OOD (officer of the deck). The quarterdeck led to the hangar bay. People everywhere, including contractors.

Anyways, was casually walking back and forth to cover my area of responsibility. Slowly moseyed into the hangar bay slightly....in time to see a huge shipyard worker plunge one of those LONG flathead screwdrivers into the stomach of a shorter shipyard worker.

Looked @ the commo and said "Did you just see what I did?" as I ran for the 1MC, and yelled "Security alert, security alert! Security alert abreast of such-and-such quarterdeck! This is NOT a drill!"

Maybe 2-3 minutes later the CMC (command master chief), the chief of security and the XO (executive officer) came down and all started shouting questions at me. I finally yelled "The security alert is abreast of such-and-such quarterdeck, which is over there, so maybe you should get your asses down THERE maybe and stop @#$@ing around here?!"

They all ran over there....and I then realized what I'd just said and figuratively shat my pants. LOL Turns out said shipyard worker's papers were faked and he had priors - a bunch of them - in NY state. A few minutes later, the CMC/XO/security chief came back. I started to apologize and the security chief said "Don't you dare. You're the ONLY guy who did his job 100% right. We spent precious time screwing around here."

    So yeah....interesting day that day.

“Screwing” around, I see what you did there.
    Ahh sea stories.
We were waiting on the 12 mile line off the coast of Cuba to repatriate about 75 migrants we caught and a couple of them apparently thought it was US soil and decided to jump overboard and make a swim for it. I was in the engineroom and was the small-boat engineer/boarding officer for the next call. We got a *MAN OVERBOARD, NOT A DRILL* thinking it was one of our own, got topside and saw the two dinguses in white tyvek suits headed for land. We let them swim for about 30 mins to tire em out then went and scooped them back up.
We had the migrants riot on the deck the following day trying to overtake the four guys on watch at the time. Ended with the other 20 or so of us LE/MMA trained responding to the flight deck and whooping the crap out of them and shackling them to each other then the helo tie-downs because ANOTHER handful of them jumped overboard during this and we had to fetch em out of the ocean again after things were back under control. Good times.

Got out and now have a nice relaxing job working as a field tech with 1,440psi natural gas pipelines instead. No shortage of dumbassed stories there. “What happens if I open this valve?” ‘Everyone in a quarter-mile radius dies, so maybe dont fuckin touch it?’

Oh Lord, I forgot about this one!

Was on the smoking sponson (I don't smoke but buddies do - was talking to them) just hanging out...when all of a sudden some dude runs like hell through the smoking sponson, jumps over the net...and into the water. We all were like "WTF?!" and then, as I knew the # to the bridge well (I was the ONLY POC for some systems related to flight ops), I called the bridge and told them "Man overboard abreast of such and such smoking sponson."

CO asked to speak to me and said "You're not joking are you?" I told him who I was (he knew me well, as did most of the bridge) and that it was indeed not. So they called away man overboard.

Turns out that particular dude had tried to torch the legal department; they were processing him out of the Navy on the 'Big Chicken Dinner' (if you're former Navy/Coast Guard you know what that is lol) and I guess he held a grudge.

There was ONE file cabinet that survived unscathed. Guess which legal files were in THAT cabinet? :D :D

His BCD was upgraded to a Dishonorable Discharge.

Ain't everyday you see a 6ft tall grown man in an Eeyore costume. This was our school's Spring Break musical presentation (Disney theme).

I hope you made a quick trip to Walmart and purchased the biggest TV in stock using your company credit card. After using the box to save the day at work you did the company a favor by properly disposing of the useless contents at home.

Back when I was doing facility construction in the Alberta oil and gas fields and I was a 2nd year apprentice, the welder I was working with ran out of oxygen for his cutting torch but still had a 1/8 or so of a bottle of acetylene left. This meant his torch was out of comission until he got more gas.

Apparently his gas supplier would charge him flat ratefor a full bottle on refill day, and not by actual gas bought. Need a half bottle? Still full rate. Stupid but this welder figured we'd have a bit fun with the leftover acetylene. Just before break, he stuck his torch down one of the pile pipes and opened the acetylene valve. We came back 20 minutes later and his bottle was now empty. He lit a smoke, walked over to the pile and tossed it down the the pipe.

Pretty sure they heard it go off in the next county. :D

OOh boy I have a bunch. College children enjoy making dick art, I'll have to reach back in the archives to find pics of them.

We had a pool air handler replaced that they needed to knock down a section of wall to replace. Then 2 years later do it again spending another $1+ million because it was sized too small.

We've currently got a couple janky portable furnaces connected via plywood doors because apparently that was easier than using a temporary boiler. The reason the boiler failed? They built a new building and instead of purchasing new retrofitted a 20 year old boiler from another building.

They'll basically trip over a dollar to save a penny here.

If memory serves me correctly he actually *DOVE* over the safety net on the smoking sponson. Given that's about 30' to 40' or so above water...that in and of itself is impressive, even if it ended in a belly flop. (which I sincerely hope it did LOL)

In the spirit of the thread. This site is notorious in our group.
Somehow, through growth and expansion of the server room and the needs of building management the server room ended up with a functioning restroom.

I can't get the panoramic photo uploaded but it's there. I made the comment that atleast the water is turned off as I turned the faucet of the sink, water came out. NVM.

Had major maintenance in removing the plumbing, upgrading the network and cable clean up. This was as good as it was getting without proper cable management rack and piss poor rack placement (up against the wall like that).

Well that didn't work, replaced 1.5 ton spot cooler with 5 ton. Got 6.5 ton of spot coolers in place of 2 staged 7.5 ton systems, seems to be holding around mid 70's.
