Actually, I believe the tow package ended on 4.6L in 2013, but I could be wrong. I know there are no transmission coolers (usually indication of tow packeage) on 4.6L after 2013.

To add a transmission fluid cooler to the 4.6L is the same principle as adding a cooler to a 5.7L, but the part numbers are different, because the transmissions are different. Adding a transmission cooler was done early on the 4.6L but not documented with a photo illustrated "how-to". Start with thread linked below. Cooler information is toward the end of the thread. Additional information is available, search "4.6L transmission cooler".

I contribute a parts list down further in the referenced thread. Some part numbers still need to be verified with @Roman. Right now, I'm on the fence, but have no immediate need. When the next Covid-19 relief deposit comes, maybe I'll pull the trigger.

I know my 2013 4.6 came with a hitch from the factory so I would assume the tranny cooler is there...I never looked lol.

The presence of the hitch and towing receptacles does not mean the truck is equipped with the "tow package" option. Toyota is different from the pack in that they provide a hitch and towing receptacles even if the truck is not equipped with the tow package. :notsure:

If your truck has the tow package the cooler should be there. My understanding is 2013 Tundra was the last year for the 4.6L transmission cooler.

No hitch receiver? What about the seven pin/four pin receptacles?

I just went out and looked. It's in front of the radiator, and damn near the same size as the radiator.

LOL...Actually the cooler is built into the top of the AC condenser. The transmission cooler is only a small part of the condenser.

Yeah, my early assumption was Toyota's coolers were about 10K BTU, but I later saw data from @Krohsis thread that under heavy tow conditions, you actually need closer to 30K BTU cooling capacity!

Yeah I was just reading about it being integrated. I assumed the Tow/haul button probably confirms that it has one as well.

My 07's Trans cooler was mounted in front of the radiator too. Hard to miss. My 14 is somewhat different. No cooler mounted in front of the radiator. I was wondering what the difference was since my build sheet states that there is a trans cooler?

Now I just need to look into the WDH for the new travel trailer. I'm having an enclosed cargo trailer custom built soon as well.....that should be a long 6 week wait.

I'm not sure the way they integrate stuff these days. By the way Rough Country tried to tell me that the bumper wont fit even after I sent them the pic of one installed.

If your truck doesn't have an OEM receiver, then you can have an aftermarket receiver installed. A WDH (weight distributing hitch) is a separate item; it installs in the receiver mounted to the truck frame. The downside of having to add the receiver is the additional expense. There are several good receiver brands. Check here to start:

The trans cooler covered at least 1/4 of my 07 radiator on the passenger side. Nothing there on my 14 so yes I assume the trans cooler is integrated to the AC condenser on my 14.

If your truck has the nest of snakes (circled in red) below, it has an OEM transmission fluid cooler. If your truck does not have that tubing configuration, then it does not have the OEM transmission cooler. Those circled lines are leading to and from the transmission cooler integrated into a top of the AC condenser.

The transmission cooler tubing configuration in the grille area will be the same for both engines equipped with a transmission cooler because both engines use the same AC condenser (88350-0C010) with the transmission cooler.

If you still need convincing that you really don't have a transmission cooler, here's a plan: Crawl under your truck on the passenger side and find the transmission. (Or, if you're not sure you can identify the transmission, have a technician do this for you.)

There will be a hockey puck cylindrical thing near the bell housing (Item 1 below, all have this warmer). If you have an OEM transmission fluid cooler, there will be a thermostat (Item 2) sandwiched between the fluid warmer and the transmission. If there is no thermostat, there will be an adapter that looks similar to the thermostat, but without the bottom outlet/inlet tubes. If there is a thermostat, there will be rubber hoses (Items 3, 4) connecting the thermostat to steel tubes (Item 5) leading toward the front grill area. If you don't have the thermostat and those steel tubes, then you don't have an OEM transmission cooler.
