Installing a solar array on the Tundra

I’m considering the install of solar panels across the top of my snug top. Longer term power for the coming zombie apocalypse (long trips and longer stays). Ability to keep up the battery charge would be nice plus keeping multiple accessories from death would be nice.
This topper never comes off. When I’m hauling cargo I use a trailer.
Has anyone got experience doing anything similar? I’ve had several portable systems but never done a permanent setup.
Suggestions and recommendations are appreciated.

 

This sounds like a great option for family trips and I'm sure other experienced members on here will chime in

 

Super common thing to for a sailboat. The marine industry will be your friend in setting up something like this and an enemy to your wallet.

 

Check out expedition portal forums. Good info there. Also a few guys on tacomaworld have done similar projects.

I will be doing this and hooking the panels to the second battery. I’ll pull some info together.

 

rbraddock on tacomaworld has a panel and charging system, he's a good guy, you might want to talk to him.

 

I don't know anything about this stuff but seems to me if you're going through the wiring and expense. It may be worth going dual battery and / or a deep cycle battery in addition.
