I'm a bit of an impulse buyer so I'm trying to slow myself down here. lol... Would you do this deal?

current truck: I have a beautiful blacked out 2015 tundra CM SR5 4wd w/ black leather and 90k miles. runs perfect. I have it pretty much the way I would keep it forever but I am bored. The only thing I would change is the head unit and speakers but Ive held off because I want to get another one every other week.

Ive been keeping my eye on a bone stock 2015 CM 1794 4wd in blue ribbon( my fav color- other than blizzard pearl.. toyota needs to make the tundra in that color). the 1794 is in great condition, 39k miles and they are telling me otd I can be at $34k.

my dilemma here is that although I love the color combo of the 1794, I find it hard to pay a premium(would basically cost me an additional $6k) for another 2015 with the same boring technology( I absolutely hate entune). I just dont think Toyota has done enough to make their top tier trim levels worth the extra money. I would enjoy the sunroof and digital thermostat but parking sensors I can do without. am I missing any other features?

Soooo.... would you trade the current truck in for this one of you were me?

I'm a girl who keeps her vehicles for as long as possible (most of the time). I have owned 4 vehicles in my 23 years of driving...I honestly plan on keeping my current Tundra forever. Once paid off I'll be keeping it as my family camping/fun truck and probably getting another one for my every day use a couple of years after it's paid off. I would personally keep what you have..... But that's me.

My take, unless there was something on it that you absolutely had to have (not want, HAVE) that cannot be put on the current truck, I would not trade in. But I tend to keep stuff till I 'get my money's worth' (example: my last Tundra, 17 years, 14 of them with no car payment). Change out your head unit, add subwoofer or whatever makes you happy with your current truck, is what I would do.

    Probably not.
Kind of depends on what accessories you have added, how much $$. And how much you would have to do to the new one. Also, trade-in? How much can you get for yours? Or if $$ is not an issue then go for it.
That seems a bit high or on high end for a 4 year old truck. What is base price before TTL?

I always consider what I can do with the $ difference between the two vehicles. For $6k, I could add lots of upgrades. Leather, wheels / tires. I've done similar swaps before and tend to regret it after a month or two.

I bought the truck with the black leather already in it and it was an xp edition so it came witht he trd off road package, black 20" wheels and step bars. I havent spent much on it. I bought a bakflip cover from my neighbor for $250.00, new ko2 tires for $300( after selling my old "new" ones), $500 on the oem trd grille and hood bulge, and 175 for the black spyder lights. all in only about $1300.00.

they are asking 35k. I would just keep my black one and sell it private party. Car gurus has the retail value on the 1794 at around 37,500.

If you find the desire to have a different vehicle is gnawing at you, it’ll eventually win out. Just make sure you have a clear vision of EXACTLY what you want.

Otherwise you’ll sooner find yourself with that same gnawing anxiety about wanting a different one.

I had my last car for eleven years, bought brand new. When it was time, that feeling of needing a change was pretty clear, and I knew which two vehicles I would choose from. Tundra won!

Definitely would not go from CM to CM same generation, even if better trim.

True story - my current Tundra has 7k miles. This is more mileage than my last three trucks combined. I have a cousin that is even worse - I swear he has new vehicles every tank of fuel.

I get that way too. I love my truck but got the 2wd to get a lower payment since I was buying my sons first car. I know I will have little use for 4x4 but still run through car gurus about once a month looking at the 4 wheel drives.

I was doing the same thing when I bought mine knowing I have never used 4wd in my life but still bought one anyhow. My wife is the same way with AWD. She says its " better in the rain" SMH

    To the OP,
    Don’t Change out.

Why? Scenario 1) you change out/up. Drive the cowboy Tundra For 18months and then the 2021 rolls out with decent updates and hybrid powertrain, 20+ mpg.
Now you are a wee bit further away from a real update.

    2) Buyer’s remorse. You love the 1794. I do aswell, many of us here do. But you decide to sell, find It’s a very polarizing truck and would not sell as quickly as the current beauty you have in the driveway.

    3) Financial sense, doesn’t make any.

    4) Truck mods. Get some. Fall in love with your current ride again.

FWIW, I get the impulse itch to change or
Upgrade vehicles. So understand a wee bit where you’re coming from. Hell I almost went for a 2019 raptor 2 months ago!

Lol. You pretty much nailed #1,2,3 right in the head. Is this my wife?! Lol. I decided not to move Forward for all of the reasons you mention and I also thought it was a bit of an “old man” truck(no offense to anyone). I am still going to try to sell it now(currently listed on Charlotte CL) though but replace it with a 1st or second gen that I can pay cash for. Then I will start saving for the new one.

I’ve been down this road many times. Lesson— don’t do it. Atleast wait for the new body style. Otherwise you’re throwing money away on taxes, fees, etc. The negligible difference between yours and the 1794 amounts to a negative, as you’re paying more for something that has old tech. Keep yours. Wait til 2021, get a 2022 Tundra.

No, I wouldn’t. Based on what you have posted you would get sick of that 1794 pretty quickly as well.

I wouldn't even upgrade to the new body style. Keep the truck until the wheels fall off. Add upgrades to it. Get a wrap, a front bumper, etc. Nothing cooler than a well maintained old Toyota truck. If you get a 2021 you'll have to wait longer to get that cool factor. New trucks are cool for the first week. Then it just becomes another truck. A lot of my friends went with the new Sierra/Silverado. They still like my truck more. Trucks ≠ cars that have a truck body.
