Just thought I'd check in! Came mainly to see what mods you've done to your Tundras as I had purchased one last year. Name's Jonny, currently stationed in Lemoore, CA... and about to hit the trails for the first time in my 2014 Tundra, going to Big Bear. Wish me luck!

This is, in fact, my second truck I've driven regularly, and the first truck I've owned. I previously had the pleasure of driving my grandfather's Chevy Avalanche back in the early 2000's. So what's my story? Well, at the start of my Naval service in 2006, I bought a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire. You know, the little J-body with a (surprisingly reliable) 2.2L Ecotec engine? Well, that little guy took me up and down the west coast in over 400,000 miles. Unfortunately, after 13 years, I had to say goodbye to it. So what's a guy to do? Yep... that's right... buy a Tundra!

Absolutely loving it even though it's one of the first of the 3rd gen Tundras. I recently fixed the tonneau cover on it, and upgraded the interior lighting to LEDs along with the license plate and bed lights. I also swapped out the faded OEM headlights with some LUMEN smoked ones (OEM style). Lastly, I had driven the truck questioning the suspension and alignment issues it had. Turns out, the truck had a leveling kit on before, and it was taken off. The driver's side strut AND shock were bent, and the outer tie rods were worn down, which made any type of alignment difficult, and I had a constant pull with a shaky steering wheel. So what's a guy to do?

This truck's got a 6" Rough Country lift kit, new wheels and tires, and some heavy duty Mevotech outer tie rods. Fixed the whole damn thing, and rides like a dream! Hope to get even more ideas from you guys. Thanks for having me!

Ha ha! Working on it. The only chrome that will probably be left on this truck is the chrome around the front grill (grill will be changed). That's for a later date though.

No I did not know that. Makes sense since it’s hot as hell there. Good training for Iraq though.

Hanford is a pretty dangerous. 1-38 chance of being in a violent crime or property theft.

    Glad you’re leaving.

Hell, I felt better living in Fresno.

Great color choice! Welcome from Colorado. Thank you for your service. I went up to Lemoore several times in the late 80's. Had a calibration contract with Hughes who had some cool things going on there for the Navy at the time. Since we were civilian contractors we were able to eat at the O club. Never got do do that as an enlisted Jarhead.

No joke, there was a murder/suicide just north across Fargo Ave from me a couple weeks ago. The area we live in around Hanford is pretty nice though; three of my neighbors are cops lol.

I still have yet to walk into the O club lol. I'm attempting to do a mostly black (chrome accented) Tundra. The only chrome I want to keep is the grill with a black grill insert.

I was involved in a murder case in 1995 in Hanford. If I never see Hanford again in my life, it would still not be long enough. I did like Visalia, Pismo Beach/Morrow Bay, San Diego was one of my favorite places (Dicks last resort!!).

I made my last trip on the 198 in 1997.

Involved...not committed. It’s actually a sick and very sad story in my life. It haunts me to this day.

I dated this girl from Porterville, her family had some farmland and allowed me to shoot every weekend. When the police would pull me over (all the time) and ask if there were weapons in the car, that always turned into drama. I always liked “leave your guns at home.” My response “When you do, I will. Be safe tonight officer.” I have the most respect for LE, so I started volunteering with CHP and Fresno Sheriff’s Department and maybe seeing if that would be a career choice. I don’t have the temperament and personality to be in law enforcement, but it was a great experience. This is just my opinion, but everyone should take a few nights to ride along with different agencies and see the other side. It gives you clarity.
