I'm screwed

Is there a reason as to how come the bolts mounting my seat come out no problem but refuse to go back in....

Theyll only go down this far until they give up. No passengers until I figure this one out I guess

 

Take them back out and see if the treads are messed up.

 

they appear to be okay to the naked eye. the two front bolts went in and all 4 appeared the same, i tried using different bolts in different holes tightening by hand and they appear to get hung up on similar spots.

wonder if @Roman could get me new bolts

wiggle them around and move seat brackets around. I use a socket wrench and after couple turns they line up fine.
I installed the same vleds lights there too

 

I'm hoping this is the issue although I like to believe I tried it already. For that price I'm gonna order some new bolts as well

 

Maybe a bit of lube?

 

are you re-using the same bolt that came out or did you swap left and right ?

 

Did you try the bolts without the seat in the place? Also did you try a little lube on the threads or never-seize?

 

all of the above - i was anal to keep them in their respective corners, i have tried swapping them around however as my options are exhausting

What you used should be fine. Do you have a tap you could maybe chase the threads with? I wonder if anyone knows if these are some type of locking thread. Maybe a safety screw of some sort because it’s holding the the seat in place.
Hard to see how you could’ve ruined them just by taking them out unless they were cross threaded from the factory.

thats kinda my thought. the bolts are tapered. as if its catching a thread above and a thread below a support beam

 

Maybe try leaning on it a little bit to get the two metals to sandwich together.

My thoughts are, you’re not holding your mouth right. Make sure the front bolts are loose and keep trying.

These tapered machines threads are tricky sometimes. How many turns are you getting before they seize?

 

Maybe get someone to sit in the seat. I don’t know I’m just throwing shit out there now.

 

With the front bolts loose so you have movement in the seat tracks. It sometimes helps to turn the bolts backwards a bit. This will sometimes let you feel the bolt drop in.

 

You can also use a longer extension to help start the bolt straight, use the extension as a visual guide.

I removed my seats to install Katzkins with an impact driver but I hand tightened to re-install. I found they mis-thread easy. A couple of them I did mate them down without the seat to make sure they caught right all the way. They key was not to keep going if there was too much resistance at the beginning. Inspect the threads closely, maybe you do need new bolts, hopefully not.

 

yeah they sure are haha and maybe 15- 20. the photo is the best way i can think to show ya how far. they tighten up quick. u got any ideas lol
