I think I need to get checked out. I've been getting up to pee 1-2x a night for a few years now (currently I'm 42).

What kinds of things can we do as a lifestyle to ensure good prostate health?

Eat healthy....fruits and veggies. Stay active and don't eat too much red meat so they say. However heredity plays a huge role. I have had 2 uncles one grandfather and my dad that have had prostate cancer. In saying that....my PSA is high for my age of 38....so I will probably get it also. I actually treat prostate cancer as I work in Radiation Oncology. Very common. We are treating about 40 a day between 2 machines. The peeing at night could be a few different things. Don't laugh but I hear doing kegel exercises helps. I have to pee during the night also but I drink tons of water and coffee so just part of getting old..lol

Had a bloodwork again yesterday. Should get results released to me on Friday. I'm hoping both scans come back negative.

My yearly includes a PSA test, I have to request it, the doc cant just submit it along with everything else, due to insurance and other BS I have to tall him each year to do a PSA. Thankfully my numbers have always been so low he says I might as well not have one LOL. His motto is you number stays below 5, my fingers stays out of you ass, sounds like a deal.

The colonoscopy he was on me abut from age 49 to this year 54. I always said not gonna do it, until April this year, then I was begging him to do it, he referred me to a surgeon and the rest is history, thankfully everything is going to OK.

My point is and not to hijack Matts thread is get the colonoscopy done guys, its just as important.

Had mine 3 years ago. 3 small polyps. Non cancerous. Removed in like 30 seconds. Watched it on the video screen. No lights out for this Marine. Suck it up...ha!

Hey Rich, I just modified my thread title to include colon health since there is no thread for that. Getting your colon checked goes hand in hand with prostate health.

I just stumbled on this thread. Sounds like you are kicking cancers ass OP. Congrats. I was diagnosed about 5 years ago at 58 yo with prostate cancer. Fortunately, it's gleason 6 (2 biopsies) and my treatment is active surveillance, which entails 2 PSA tests and digital rectal exams  each year.

I also had genomic testing performed which indicated my cancer was considered low risk for metastisizing. But low risk does not equal no risk. A cancer diagnosis gets your attention fast.

If anyone has questions about my experience, I would be glad to share, or you can PM me if you like.

    To your health OP.

I have high risk T2c Gleason score: initially 7, now 8. Initial PSA was 11. Metastasized to lymph nodes. 45 radiation sessions over 7 weeks. 2 years on Zytiga....$248K just for the pills. Last blood work indicated 0.3 ng/l. Not good. A red flag. Had another blood work yesterday. Results on Friday.

Just paid my last Lab Corp invoice. My lab from yesterday has already been sent to my doc. I do have access to the results on Friday, 8:09am EST. 6:09am for me. I'm at work by then. I'll be logged on at 6:08...just sayin....

Yep, but I'm not alone dealing with this. Been with this for 3 1/2 years. A bit of an expert on this now unfortunately.

It's awesome that you are sharing your experience. Everytime I hear someone act like prostate cancer is common and not as serious as other cancers, I want to wring their necks.

Prostate cancer is quite common but under the radar. That's why I started this thread. I have two coworkers now that are going through this. You constantly hear about breast cancer with women but lots of men have the prostate cancer issue. Lots.

Thank you buddy, yes it does. I am glad I had one done, doc removed a small polyp from my ascending colon, it was benign but it is the kind of polyp that if you get cancer it comes from this type, a tubular adenomas. Seems as this type grows and grows larger it turns into cancer. Now I get to back every 5 years instead of 10.

Welp.....latest blookwork> PSA went from 0.3 to 0.4 in a month. Scans on Monday to determine where the cancer is. Fun times!

Is that a clear indication that cancer has come back? Sucks. Hope this works out positively.

FYI....I'm downgraded now to "very high risk" T3b-4. Great....keeps life interesting for sure. Mods are secondary again , but I'd like to get my lift on but low energy right now. Kind of sucks.

Already did the Lupron. 2 years. Zytiga too. On Prolia currently. The Prednisone/ Zytiga combo for 2 years shrunk me an inch, hence the reason for Prolia to harden up my bones. If I didn't have my 5 year old grandson under my care I'd pretty much say f**k it.

I had 45 radiation sessions over a 7 week period on the Siemens, +/- 2mm accuracy. Radiation is no longer an option now. Most likely a lot of inhibiting drugs now. I hate pills. Ha!
