Been getting a slight squeeling noise on startup. Seems to be coming from the idler pulley but its hard to isolate. I guess it could be the tensioner pulley as well.

I have purchased the idler pulley, tensioner pulley (not the whole assembly - just the pulley) and a belt.

Should I change both pulleys? Is the tensioner pulley left-hand thread? Any help would be appreciated.

I would replace the whole tensioner if you’re going through the hassle of getting in there. The idler pulley is a 5 min job in comparison.

Once the belt is off, you can turn each pulley by hand and listen and feel to isolate. It's easy to say just replace the works, but conditions such as poor weather don't always make that the most practical route if you can't get into a garage or similar. Just one of a few reasons that I try to replace wear items before they actually go. Good luck!

Thanks guys. I'll spin 'em and check. And yes, its freezing cold outside and the Tundra doesn't fit in the garage. Going to try and make it quick by replacing both pulleys. Hopefully its just the idler.

One of those days where everything went perfectly. Changed both pulleys and put a new belt in. Took 1 hour from pulling out tools to heading back inside. Thanks guys.

Now get a mechanics stethoscope from Harbor Freight for $6. Extremely useful tool.
