    Hello all,

I just bought a 2016 SR5 4wd crewmax. I have never owned a Tundra before and I absolutely love this truck. My question is that the idle speed seems to be high at start up, usually around 1500. Is this normal? Even after the truck has warmed up it idles around 850 rpms. Thanks

Normal. This is to warm the motor up faster. The ecu combats any issues by dumping excess fuel to keep the cylinders cool while the aluminum motor has time to absorb the heat. This is why it’s common to see higher condensation out the tailpipe on cold starts due to high levels of combustion.

    Perfectly normal

Also to begin pushing oil and developing oil pressure. If you're running the recommended oil weight then you're starting off with 0 weight oil. Hardly any oil pressure. For that reason alone I would tell you DO NOT start the Tundra from cold, jam it into gear and then take off.
