Anyone else have a problem with paying for a subscription for GPS? I paid 70k for my limited and it doesn't come standard with GPS without a subscription after the first year.... WTF

In todays world where everyone has a smartphone with multiple map apps along with android auto or CarPlay I struggle with how a company feels they can charge what Toyota is charging for maps.

I didn’t get a trial of it but I can’t imagine that it provides any value above what my phone does.

I'm afraid this subscription fad is only just starting with automobiles. Any convenience beyond having two pedals and a steering wheel will be fair game for a monthly fee.

You're are absolutely right, but to spend this kind of money on a car and to not have GPS standard is mind blowing. I use my android app for maps but when the car wants to drop off the Conection while I'm driving on the freeway . That's a problem..

I think the subscription is total crap as well! I didn't give it a second thought, when I purchased the truck the lying sales guy said I had three years "possibly 8" before I needed to renew anything. I lost my maps yesterday, lol. Toyota kept my truck in the shop 5 weeks before I picked it up and started the subscription on day 1!! They even cheated me out of a month.

Nevertheless, I've tried Android Auto for two days and really hate it; I guess Toyota will get their $25 from me...those rat bastards. Funny thing is, they don't even make signing up easy, nothing is working.
