Anyone know the difference between the two white colors?
You can no longer configure a Tundra build in Super White. It’s called Ice Cap now.
    Thanks in advance.

I see wind chilled pearl and Super White. What trim are you building?

For us common folk with the SR & SR5s...Toyota calls it "Super White."

For the rich folk...it's called "Ice Cap" because that sounds more fancy.

    hahahahaha

Super white is a single stage paint job and doesn't have a clear coat. Google super white paint failures. There are a ton of them, at least in the Tacoma world. I'd bet Ice Cap does come with a clear coat finish

I currently own a common folk Super White Tacoma.
If you build an SR Tundra, white also changed color to Ice Cap.
Maybe just a name change to avoid any new claims on paint issues.

The difference is obvious. One is white, and the other is also white but with a different name because marketing decided that a name change might boost sales by 0.36%.

It's just white. If you want a white truck, buy a white truck.

I don't know why I laughed so hard at this but it's the truth. If you don't want the upcharge for wind-chill pearl then you only have 1 choice for a white truck regardless of the name. I also agree that marketing has everything to do with it...

My 14 year old "super white" tundra still has perfect paint. In Arizona with all of its UV glory.

Pretty sure my truck has a clear coat.

To be fair...Toyota's clear coat on the 2nd Gen Tacos wasn't anything to write home about either. My clear coat on the hood & roof were destroyed and I ended up just doing a Raptor Liner paint job on it. The truck had 250k on it and I wasn't going to spend several thousand on a complete paint job.

In the end, I liked how it turned out. The Raptor Liner will end up outlasting the truck for the new owner. Thinking back...that was a super fun project.

It was the same idiot that changed the acronym for RAV4 to "Robust Accurate Vehicle" instead of "Recreational Adventure Vehicle". Marketing Department is to woke for common sense...

If it was factory paint then no chance it has a "clear coat". The clear is mixed with the white and sprayed as one single coat. Def not a 2-stage paint

I paint cars for a living. And from the factory is for sure 2 stage paint. Even some cars are 3 stage paint from the factory. Maybe shouldn’t be giving out info that you don’t know. Any questions please feel free to ask a professional! 040 and Ice Cap are the same and identical in the same formula! I can show you from my formula app that I have! Have a great evening!

Wind Chill Pearl is a 3 stage paint process and naturally will be more durable because of it. It is a base coat, pearl flake coat, and clear.

I am sure the Super White or Ice Cap has clear over it, it would make zero sense for them not to have clear coat. Wind Chill pearl is very similar to a Subaru paint process called Crystal White Pearl. The Toyota WCP has more of blue silver tint to the pearl coat making it look very matte in direct sun light. It is pretty cool.

Sorry you are so wrong and don't have the tools to research this. The clear is added to the color and sprayed as a single coat. Take a small fine piece of sand paper and lightly sand an inconspicuous and guess what, it will show white not clear. Sand and anyother color and it will show clear. Enjoy your painting and have a great day
