I have a 2016 that doesn’t have the up/down arrows on the right steering wheel controls. The screen in the dash doesn’t have multiple pages I can scroll thru, just the ones you get from hitting the display button. I can pull up the IBC screen, change gain using gain buttons on the IBC and change from electric to electric and hydraulic. What I can’t figure out is how to change the trailer weight like I’ve seen others do/say. How do I get to that option and do I have to have a trailer hooked up to get to this option?
    Thanks!

I watched that video before I posted. The controls on the right side of my steering wheel are different. I don’t have 4 buttons, only 2. Also, my dash looks nothing like his. Yes, it’s 5.7 with factory IBC.
    Thanks.

I’ve never see an option about trailer weight and frankly do not know what that would change or do. I have the same options you describe in you OP and nothing further. I’m guessing the option about trailer weight started in 2018 when they changed the dash display.

Maybe the steering wheel with more options is an upgrade?
By choosing a heavier trailer, it makes the voltage to the 7 pin plug go higher for more braking power.

I don’t think so. Here is a pic of the wheel on my Limited. 1CA107D3-4E97-4BF6-B8A8-778F5E13FCFC.jpg
Doesn’t adjusting the gain value increase or decrease the electric current for the trailer brakes? Changing the trailer weight setting seems redundant.

My 2016 SR5 looks the same. The only setting other than the amount of gain is the type. Type is changed by the button down on the brake controller in lower dash- and your choice is electric or electric over hydraulic. I do not appear to have any setting of trailer weight- all you need to do is choose the correct type and then adjust the gain so you are getting good trailer braking.

Mine looks just like yours. I hear people always saying, and it’s visible in the video posted above, that the trailer weight can be <5K lbs or >5K lbs.

Watch the video and you’ll see on the display he has it set at <5K lb trailer weight.

I see it - that display started being put into the truck in MY 2018. My guess is everyone 2018+ will have the weight option while earlier trucks with the IBC won't.

If is is possible, it will likely be in the owners manual. Have you checked that? I will not be able to look at my manual for several hours. I will say that the video appears to be a newer Tundra, dash/guage and steering buttion layout is different so that could be a consideration. I would guess a 2016 does not have that setting.

I just recently bought my truck used and it didn’t come with a manual.
I know this is weird but I’m one of those guys that actually reads the entire owners manual and it’s driving me nuts that I don’t have one!
    :annoyed:
