What polish? Never done before. Wax first then polish right?

There's some good vids on YouTube, chemical guys have some good vids, stay away from there products as they are overpriced I'm my opinion.

Negative. Polish then wax/sealant. It's a common mistake. Polish has very fine abrasives that that buff out surface imperfections. Wax and sealant add a sacrificial coat to protect the work you did.

    Wash>clean>polish>wax.

Polish then wax. Polish will help remove the crap that the standard car wash doesn't remove, the wax will help protect the paint. I like to use Turtle Wax. I've been lazy and been using the liquid soap with the wax already mixed in it, not nearly as protective as the actual hard wax.

For some very 'detailed' detailing advice, go to autogeek.net and get on their forum. Read any posts by Mike Phillips. In response to your original question...others were spot on. Wax is your LSP, polish would come before that, and compound before that, and decontamination (both chemical and physical) before that.

No worries. I'm in the early stages of this obsession. Still need to watch some vids by Renny Doyle...these guys are amazing at what they can do with neglected paint. I'm more of a hobbyist, been at it (seriously) for about a year....got a Christmas gift registry built over on Autogeek.....gotta make shopping for me easy
