Had a hectic, busy day at work in the truck shop today, at the tail end of a extended day I was working on some rigging on a logging truck and managed to crush 2 finger tips on my left hand. Middle finger will loose the nail, ring finger will likey loose the whole tip from the last knuckle. Sitting in emerg waiting for the verdict right now. Not fun!

I did get my first ambulance ride, and 1/2 a bottle of happy gas.

No pics will be taken or posted, please don’t ask. I wouln’t even let my wife look, and she’s a nurse.

No kidding, I think you should try this on your burglars. Sledge hammer and anvil. LOL

It’s amazing the pain from a relatively small injury area.

Damn dude, that sucks. I've seen some nasty hand and finger crush injuries during my time as a job site medic. No fun at all. You're right in that there's a surprising amount of pain from a small area.

Hope it was your non-dominant hand!! Get well soon.

Show us the middle finger after you get it bandaged up.

I agree finger pain and mouth pain is some of the most intense. Feel better!

Sorry to hear...BUT..it could be a lot worse. You will be in pain and have a very sensitive fingers for a while (did i really need to say that) but once you get all healed up, you will get by just fine without one finger tip. You still have your thumbs! I know speaking from experience. About 7 years ago i had a machine accident and lost the tip of my left hand index finger. (Who wants to see a pic of my finger only if its ok with Phil?) I know its eating at you right now what you could have done different but please take it easy on yourself mentally...i wish i would have. My accident ate at me really bad and i beat myself up until i got completely healed up.

Yes, it is my left hand, and I’m right handed. I think my right hand just escaped injury though, could have been much worse. In hindsight, I don’t know why I did it. Only thing that makes sense is I was 12 hours into an 8 hour day, and hurrying.

Damn dude! You’re gonna lose a 1/3 of your finger? Im sorry. I ripped my left ring finger half way off at the first knuckle. Luckily it was saved. No tendons severed. Smashed my right index finger with a 5lb single jack on top of a 1/2 electrical conduit pipe we use for stakes. Really nasty, only a couple stitches though. Healed well but still not much feeling.
Funny how you learn to adapt and compensate.

Best of luck man. As mentioned before, at least you have the middle.

Good advice. I know you’re right, and it won’t be a life-altering experience by any streach. Well, other than declining copious amounts of overtime, never did get hurt having a beer at home after work.

Good luck. Better to see plastic than Ortho, Ortho just cleans up and amputates as needed, plastics will try to salvage and limit scaring.

Worst hand accident I’ve ever seen was due to a hydraulic actuator. The machinery would open up to fit a large hand inside, but when closed , only a quarter inch was given.

Yep, you guessed it, the hand was crushed and the muscle was blown out the side of the fingers.

9 months of surgery and extensive PT and he was pretty good, all things considered.

Totally sucks Phil. Had a few of my fingers somewhat smashed over the years. Never pleasant. Not as bad as yours though. We had several hours training before heading up to BP's sites on the North Slope. It really focused on pinch points. Most common injuries up there were hand and #2 were foot. Pretty much guaranteed a trip off the slope. Heh..heh... Have a cold one.....and heal up fast!
