I’ll take this into the dealer but has anyone else had an issue with the HVAC controls on there SR5 blend controls. When I have the selector centered which should be on the floor there is a lot of air coming through the dash vents. Seems like something is wrong with the actuator but wanted to know if this is common.

yeah mine does that too. I just close the vents and adjust the temp. But it is annoying though.

I've noticed it on other vehicles before but it seems like the Tundra is a little worse.

Question - do you have the dual zone climate control thing? If so....when you start your truck, does it automatically display temp, direction, etc. on that little HVAC LCD screen right away? Or does it take 30 seconds or so to show up?

I ask because this same thing happened to me. A sensor/solenoid would fail somewhere sporadically, and when that happens, it kicks the HVAC system into sort of a 'self-check' for 30 seconds. When it does it, it failsafes the HVAC system into a sort-of 'safety' mode, where air would ONLY blow out the dash/defrost vents.

I do not have dual zone just the base system. It almost reminds me of an old cable vacuum system that would not divert the air to the right vents.

You may not have the same system, but I’m betting that same solenoid exists in the normal system. If it fails, it “fails” to defrost vents as a safety measure.
