Some chipmunks have made a nest in my 2000 Tundra. I can't see it, but I have heard them making noise somewhere near the bottom of the passenger-side firewall. Am important clue is that when I tried turning on the vent, no air came out, a small fragment of grass came through the vent, then the fan seemed to get stuck. Is the vent fan on the engine side of the heater core, or on the passenger side? I'm pretty sure the nest is not on the passenger side. Any advice on how to access the nest? Can anyone recommend a link to an exploded parts diagram of the vent system? Thanks!

Pull the cowl and inspect that whole area. The clips have tiny little gaskets that dry up over the years and tend to allow water past - sometimes resulting in leak(s) directly atop the flap door that opens the "fresh air" vent. This'll cause a drip down your blower motor onto pass floor. Cheap fix = caulk or custom gasket.

You'll still be able to see over to the driver side once you pull it. You sure its chipmunks and not mice? Mice can go just about anywhere they want - chipmunks not so much.

Lay down on the pass side floor and you’ll see a round Blower thingy with 3 bolts. Remove bolts and unplug the Blower motor wire. Watch the critters runnnn!!!
