Keep it waxed/sealed/protected. I have a black truck, keep it waxed and it stays dark and clean, even after rain. If you use a good product and handwash vs auto car wash, a wax/seal can last 3+ months.

Wax/sealant/ceramic coatings that sheet water more than they bead water can help prevent bad water spots. Everyone likes the pictures of water beading on the paint, but if there is a light coat of dust on your truck, those beads turn into water spots. If most of the water sheets off, then in theory there should be less water spots. You gotta do some google searching to find out for some sheeting products like Apex Surface Protection Rehydra-Sheet.

Big fan of Groits products... Need to do a deep strip of old wax first, then prep surfaces, and final ceramic coating... Does well on my slate blue tundy. Good luck

The issue has to do with Environmental Contamination. So what is being washed out of the air by the rain? That depends on location and other factors…wildfires, Industrial, airport proximity, etc…
Coatings and LSP’s will only do so much for you if the fallout is allowed to sit and dry on the surface.
LSP’s “may” prevent it when freshly applied but as the protection begins to degrade, that will/may change.
It may come down to safely removing the rain water before it has a chance to bake in the sun or dry.

Yeah my question is what is softer than rain water?
If it's spotting there must be crap on the truck already.
In that case, do what the team tells you above, then cover the truck with an all season car cover.
Bingo!, problem solved and you've added years to the paint job.
