Just received my renewal from Liberty for 2k. Was at 1700 last year before I tapped an accord. Never thought clear coat could be so expensive. Shoulda gone out of pocket.

How much is your insurance costing you and what’re your policy limits? Going to start shopping around as I don’t drive 10,000 miles per year

I think you're going to have a tough time comparing apples to apples because insurance rates vary wildly, not only across the country, but even across a city. That being said USAA is likely going to be the lowest if you can get on with them. Otherwise Liberty Mutual is owned by USAA and will probably be the next lowest. I've been with GEICO, Progressive, State Farm and one other major one I can't remember the name of right now, and USAA/Liberty Mutual beat them all.

Your best bet is to just get quotes for what you need and go with what fits best.

Go to an independent Insurance agent where they can take down your information once and get you quotes from multiple companies. Then, if there are companies that they did not get quotes from because they are not appointed by that company, you can go get those yourself. This will be less work for you and you will be getting quotes comparing the exact same coverage from company to company.

If you have a home or an apartment, have them quote those as well. Discounts for having both can be significant.

But I cannot stress this enough...do not buy the stripped down policies. I work in the industry. I see people buying the low limits, restricted coverage stuff to save a few dollars. Then an accident happens and that individual is in deep trouble.

True, but the bigger factors are: driving history of the driver, prior claims or accidents, driving history of anyone else in the household, age of driver, age of members of household, where the vehicle is located, credit report of the driver, type of coverage and limits.

Unless you are trying to insure a vehicle over $100k, the value of most normal vehicles is less of a factor than the "behavioral" patterns and experience of the driver.

Thanks everyone for the input. I’ll take your advice and do some shopping. I kept the exact same policy numbers (full coverage maxed out) from my 97 es300 when I transferred it to the tundra. Went from $720 a year to ~$1760 so id say vehicle has quite a bit to do with it. I just didn’t expect it to be that drastic

I work with insurance on a daily basis here in PA. Contact your local Independent Insurance agent they should be able to get you quotes from numerous companies. Apply for discounts like paperless, and mostly all companies have an app for your phone that will monitor your driving that should be another discount, EFT payments, pay in full if possible.
If you're paying for something like AAA and have roadside or towing on your policy you don't need both.. Don't sacrifice lowering your coverage for a "better rate''... Also if you're married have them try your spouses name first I've seen premiums lowered significantly because the spouse has better credit..

It’s a great policy and I am very happy with it.
Too many folks are under insured these days.
Also have my homeowners with full replacement on structure, contents and outbuildings for $1000 a year.

Ran across this about 2 years ago

I do not remember the term used, but ask the insurance company to recalculate your score, may need to go through the agent to get it recalculated.
They will notify the insurance company.

Almost like your FICO score but different. If you've had the same coverage for awhile, recalc may lower your
cost due to your actual FICO score going up. Its all related somehow.

We have Cincinnati Insurance and our agent had ours recalculated and our rates went down due to my credit score increase.

Actually looking at an email from march 2017.
The score is called a "T" score and according to my agent is credit based

I'm paying $1300 CAD per year, which is the same as I was paying on my 2012 Kia with a different company. If I put winter tires on my truck and move my wife's car insurance and our house insurance over to the new company to get multi-vehicle and multi-line discounts, it will go down to $900.

I recently used gabi and had a good experience
    https://www.gabi.com/

However, they were unable to get me into a cheaper policy.

ive also used private insurance agencies and they only ever got me deals on motorcycle insurance.

Liberty Mutual accident forgiveness commercial now you know how its paid for by increasing premiums. Mercury seems to be cheapest then Geico also depends on location/value of vehicle.

This. And it's bad practice to even try. I learned a lot from my wife that worked in insurance for years. The best thing to do is go to an agent and they will give you 5-10 quotes to pick from. A few other thing we learned are that you don't want to be under-insured. $500 deducible is better than $1000 and it's typically not that much more. If you have done a bunch of mods to your truck, you have to declare those in order to be covered.

I made a thread about it.

Also, I see people are trying to help by listing what they pay. That does nothing. We'd need to know your coverage limits, location, age, driving history.

Mine is through Geico. My premium for full coverage on the 2020 Platinum is $370 every 6 months. I have a $500 deductible. I'm 29 and from NE ohio for reference.

Using the insurance app to monitor your driving is damn joke, DO NOT DO IT!! I had it and drove on the average 5 miles over the speed limit and or drove "over the miles you stated you were going to drive for the year" and my rates sky rocketed, I do not need any more "big brother bullshit" monitoring how I drive and where I drive.
I switched over to Geico here in Los Angeles and full coverage on my Tundra is 998.80 every 6 months, and an additional 1 million dollar umbrella policy cause the drivers here in California suck as most do not carry full coverage.

Yeah not worth having the app, I have 2 other vehicles on my policy plus home owners insurance so I get a damn good rate, the "driver monitoring app" is pathetic to say the least and glad I got rid of it.

Why would you need this with comp and collision coverage? If the person is underinsured wouldn't you be able to use your collision coverage?
