Toying with the idea of selling the mx4 tonneau from my white 2015 SR5 DC to get a cap that allow camping, but all of the websites just have 'request a quote' option instead of actual pricing. This is my first truck, and i never considered a cap over a tonneau because i like the option to haul mulch/taller objects. I've always called them "pappy-caps", because only a grandpa would like the looks, but i guess i must be getting old because some of yours look great.

I gather it's usually somewhere between 1-2k, but curious if we could start a thread with a photo of your truck, the make/model of your cap, the year you bought it, and your out-the-door price for it.

    Thanks

I had the same idea and feel like a cap looks great if your truck is already badass! From my research most new caps run from 2-4K depending on the options. I would suggest keeping an eye out on this site, Facebook marketplace, and craigslist. Even if the paint is the wrong color that may only by $500 to color match. I saw a white ARE cap go for $400 dollar yesterday. By the time I reached out to the buyer it was already sold. That was a steal but usually I see the used ones for sale in the $1000 or less range.

Funny - there was a white one in Pgh a while back for $500 and the same thing happened. I guess i'm hoping to use this thread to get an idea of what they cost so that i could recognize a good value when a used one pops up. Highly unlikely i'd buy new...

My ARE Overland was $2400 if I remember right. But I got some options like flip down front window, flip up side window, lights, racks, dog screen, carpet liner. Whatever you do, go ahead and get any options you want now and don’t try to add them later.

I put a used tonneau on my 2007, $250.00 installed.

I put a new and rather expensive commercial cap on my 2002, a little over $2000.00

I paid mid 3's for mine. It's a lot of money. I was just about to post this link in the camping forum of a hitch mount RTT setup. An MTB friend of mine started working at this company RubiconEP last year and he was telling me about his setup. I already have an RTT on my shell for camping but this might work for someone who wants to remove it regularly when not camping.

I'm going on 72 years old. I struggled to get to things in bed of my pick-up. Old dirt bike injuries. I ended up with a cap and a drawer system. I works for me. I don't remember but I think around $2200 for cap and same for drawer system. Expensive yes but worth to me. As far as hauling big things I use my trailers.20190601_114547.jpg 20190619_151839.jpg 20190619_151912.jpg 20190615_165600.jpg
